Do you like to take your viewing in short, one night entertainment bouts of cinematic movies?

Or, do you like the lengthy character development provided by continuous episodes of a series?

Or perhaps you just like more, more, more - as many seasons as you can get?

Thoughts on anime length, please. :D

I like them as long as they can possibly go till then done everything possible i find that teh 26 ep series tend to leave alot of stuff astray and you wonder about stuff thast why i prefer the longer ones depending on if the anime series im watching is any good :) i cold sit for all the ep and still want more :) bring it on! 1000 episode series!! don;t think one would be ever that long but who knows!

I too enjoy them to be as long as possible. As long as they keep the stories good and my attention can't be pulled away, I want them to stay on the air.

To many times, good series are taken off just when you really get into them.

I enjoy them as long as possible, but truely i hope that they don't make the anime worse when they have longer episodes. I mean, some animes go overhand due to the fact that they have longer air time. But that's only me :). I would enjoy animes that will go on, and on...and on! :D

It really depends, doesn't it? I mean, some anime *SHOULD* have been stopped ages ago, before it finally ended. *cough*DragonBall Z*cough* But there are some that I'd loved to have seen much more of. Like, the expected abrupt end of Kare Kano's anime series (thankfully, Tokyopop is releasing the MANGA, which coincides almost perfectly with the anime). And there are some that I'd have LOVED to see a big extension of, like GoldenBoy, or some such.

But, speaking generally, I prefer the dual season-styled anime. 26 episodes. Enough time to get an interesting arc (*MAYBE*, if they push the story) or a really interesting single tale to completion. Of course, this means I'm talking about shows like Bubblegum Crisis, Noir, Ai Yori Aoshi, Azumanga Daioh, RahXephon, etc etc etc. So, therein lies my answer! 26 episodes, baby!

I usually prefer the average 26 sized animes. I can't stand it when anime's end really fast, or those that drag on for a long time(with the exception of Rurouni Kenshin)

hmm, when you think about it it's not the size that counts, it's how good it is! huzzah for Furi Kuri.

26 eps is good for me i think... never wanna stretch it out too much yes? although that guy has a valid point that it matters not on the size but on the greatness of the series *nods* but my vote goes with 26ish *nods again*

Movie length is the best, followed by short OVA if they really have to.

Lets face it, most of these 26 episode animes are overly long and usually peter out, if they even get going in the first place.

Also, this format may be the way to go as far as showing your anime to the Japanese public, due to the fact that it shows conveniently on TV, but when it comes to downloading it all and buying it all, and then *watching* it all, its just a huge ****ing pain in the arse at the end of the day.

So, in summation, I really only buy short and very good animated series, most of it is so throw away its not even funny. Although nobody here will agree with me simply because 99% of anime fans are too blinkered to see the reality that the majority of anime is actually rather mediocre. Just because its anime, doesnt mean its good.

Well spoken, and I whole-heartedly agree with you there.

I am one of the masses who like a standard dual season best, however. I find many anime movies never really have enough run time to truly give you any real attachment to the characters or world within. Don't get me wrong, there are true masterpieces in the form, but I prefer the slower developmental pace a series has to offer.

When a series doesn't have the plot to stretch that far, it is blatantly apparant - no one can argue otherwise for Dragonball Z. That would have been a great anime if it didn't last as long as it did - eventually turning to repetitive and mindless plotlines to stretch it over countless seasons. Chobits has 2 clip episodes. Two(!) in one standard dual season - a complete no-no practice imo. Sailor Moon is nothing more than a "monster-of-the-week" and so on...

When a series is well done and well paced - the wonderful single continous epics, usually but not always without filler or recap episodes - you have more time to get comfortable with the involved cast and their place in the grand story. There's so much more that can be told in the space of 650 minutes as opposed to the standard 80-120 min film.

I like animes that have the average 26 eps. If they get too long, you have to buy more which means spending more money.. 8 discs is enough for me :D

The standard 26 episodes is good enough to build on characters and storylines to effect. Most of my favourite animes are 26 episodes. Doesn't drag on too long.

I would like an anime to have more than 26 episodes, but that doesnt mean that that I like series that are over 100 episodes. Inuyasha is an acception, cuz I love how characters interact with each other.

If its a wack show then I want it short. But if its one of the best, then I'd hope its movie length

Well... actually my anime size is 39 or 52 series. I don't know why.
A lot of good anime I've watched last few month was 26 series and it was OK with me and I didn't want it any longer. But the ones I really love are no less than 39.

Up to 26 is good. The quality is great, easy to collect & easy to keep track on it.

I agree with what you're saying, but I would always want to see more of my favorite characters and what happens to them after the last ep of the season. If they did a movie or a second series that showed us what happened to each character, then I'll be satisfied.

true true. it doesnt matter the size for me, but if its really good, and theres a sense of finality to it, (the ending doenst make me mad or leave a cliff hanger) then I am fine. I mean Full Moon was 52 episodes and ended wonderfully. Escaflowne ended wonderfully too and it is 26 episodes. doesnt matter. I just need to feel satisfied. and I need to know too that it wasnt discontinued and the creator wanted to continue it more..or something like that..
