I disappeared for awhile do to Finals/Mid-terms. I am back and wil get a little more active here. Sometimes, I feel like I am the only one posting at the time I am on. I apologize on not leaving a message of my absence.

Well, a lot of newbies join forums to obtain downloads and not a lot of downlaod links are given throughout the forum so people are too lazy to search for themselves rely on the users here. I think the avatar sizes tend to scare newbies away from the forums, some people are used to having avatars over 120x120, 80x80 wouldn't be bad. But, this thread isn't the place for that discussion.

    I'll keep on advertising! :)

I know from experience that those kinds of newbies don't stick around. I'm a member on a forum that's up to almost 20,0000 members now (it was less than 10,000 when I joined a year ago) and in that year, there've been maybe 2 or 300 people who've actually been active for any length of time. The rest, are all leeches.

You know, every site I go to has different avatar limits. :p There's never really been a "standard" size. If it were up to me, I'd want to make it 96x96. Something to bring up, perhaps...

We are not losing members they are just not active.

I think that BJP has gotten bigger and doing so it seams less members. Actually they are posting in forums you may not vist

There are some days that I noticed that there are only a few posts in 2 days. But by the 3 there is like 30 or so posts.

Threads like this tend to bring out the posters (like me) who have been sitting in the woodworks quietly watching, while not really posting quite as much. It's proof positive that our board ain't dying. If it was would there really be so many people posting here in this thread in such a short period of time?

I have to agree most of the recent threads haven't been as 'exciting' or 'captivating' as when I first started exploring outside of the SMJ forum, but I chalk that up to more posts in the Rec forum about random ibberish and less about anime/japanese related topics, and the ones that are seem a little generalized.

Neph (taboo on me for using his name) used to stir up the hornet's nest quite a bit, and that was always a pleasure to watch. We seem to be in a slight lull, but with posts like this I dont have any worries about BJP in the future.

In other words, we liked the Drama. My guess is that we need something else, and something big. Really big, and really up to date.

Since this thread, I did notice a bit more of activity, but maybe like a two percent change. Still, it's good!^^

I haven't posted much recently. But I still visited the site several times a day just like when I posted more. I think now I just haven't felt like posting. I've already viewed this thread like 8 times and never posted before.

I'm starting to think the boards have actually quieted down some since Neph left, but it's nowhere near dead yet.

There used to be a lot more, but like mentioned, this site use multi-cultural. There's lots of different countries.

I take that not as bad for the time differences, but as awsome for how united people can be.

Oh, and as far as the people online:
Not so long ago. Not so bad.

Well, all night, yes. All day, well... I do have a job, you know. :p Anyway we now have a way to prove it, so :p

Being as I notice almost everything that happens, post-wise, I can tell you it's typically 15-20 posts in an 8-hour period, usually while I'm at work. Throughout a day probably in the area of 40 or 45.

Ehh, the boards seem less active to me in the last year, but mainly because I spend so much more time on here. The more active you are the less active it seems.

Really what I want to know is that if people post like 1 or 2 times and then leave, then why do they join in the first place...or they just don't post and then leave...:glazed:

It's either lazy, or just uninterested people. It's like going to the movies but regreting it. They just sing up, and loose interest in it automatically. Can't very well judge them, it's their choice. And you can't take away their username, since they created it. But usually newbs to boards sites don't choose the smartest names. Something like lildawg45645123 :p

Can't Cloud just delete all the members that haven't logged in for more then 1 year or something...I mean having all those members there and then never logging it just wastes space...(even though the space doesn't really matter)

My guess is that no one ever knows. Any member could come back at any moment. KaMeKaZi is an example, I think (if he was gone more than a year).

But I'm not really sure the excact reasons.

He did that awhile ago, back when I was but a little idiot of a noob. You can even find the thread where we all petitioned him to do it, but please don't because my posts there are completely retarded. :p

As I recall BJP dropped ~1800 members when they did the first prune. Methinks it's time to try another. The requirements for the last one were less than 10 posts, and more than 1 year of membership. Perhaps bumping this one up to six months instead might get rid of more dead weight. I know a lot of people joined in the last little while but only a few ever really got going.

Should we also add days of inactivity?

For instance, members that have not shown for over a year or two be deleted?

Probably. But you have to consider there's a lot of members who havent shown in a while. Perhaps there should be a limit, right? Like, a year inactive and you're done? (No less than that at least, i dunno...)
