I am not quite sure if this is a sport or just something fun to do but anyway. Anyone got a paintball gun, been to games and tournaments and stuff. What do you think of the game? I have not been playing for long, but this is one of the funnest things I have ever done in my life.

I tried it once. It went ok, until one of the other players snuck up on me from one side and shot me in the face. I got a nasty bruise right next to my eye. It hurt for DAYS, every time I blinked. >_<

On the plus side? I got him banned from playing at that location again. :p

I prefer Laser Quest. Less pain. >.<

Laser tag is cool to, but not as fun to me, first time I went all the stuff there was broken and pieces of crap and I dont trust the aim. Werent you wearing a mask? face shots are somewhat common but with the mask its very unlikely to hit your face, and yes. Paintball is VERY painful if you dont wear the right gear. First time I went I was wearing a sort sleeve shirt and pants. Left with so many welts and bruises. :bleed:

He shot me *just* to the side of my goggles. *just*

    So it hit, and hurt.

I did this once for my birthday a few years back. I had around 20 or a little bit more doing it. My use to be best friend Samantha's parents owned the paint ball shop, so we had unlimited paintballs and stuff. I never got out, because I really didn't want to get paint on my cloths so I went a little crazy. Imagine that, me going crazy, ha! I did get shot once though, by a team member thinking I was somebody else. ( It was actually an adult that was on my team. I had fun, but if I was to do it again... I would have to think about it. I didn't care to much for the bruise on my stomach. My friend Sam, didn't really play, she went up to the house and talked to her cousin, so it kinnda ruined it for me, but anyway, I did have fun.

The only part that sucked was the Adults against the kids, because the adults were mean. They gave no mercy. How dare they! So I guess I did get out once. Sitting here talking about it kinnda wants to make me play it again, lol. To bad the shop still isn't open. Not to many people in my area were that much into it.

    Paintball is really fun.

You hide behind the tree, and you hear how the shots fly away from you...Adrenaline, yes.

Went paintballing once, was good fun. Though I prefer realism... i.e. airsofting. (with proper looking weapons!)

I had an airsoft match back in February. Had 6 hours worth of skirmishes in a 5 storey house. Was totally knackered at the end of it... with several bruises and blisters all over my body... and this was me wearing swat gear with layers of clothing! Masks and goggles were made compulsory.

    Here are my babies:

Actually, I've only had a proper airsoft match once. And that was the one already mentioned. I have plans to have a few more this summer after my exams.

Is the VSR 10 any good? I've been considering that. Though I'm really looking forward to TM's M14 due to be released some time this year.

    [edit]Dang! you're a girl! ... don't get many like you in airsoft :p[/edit]

o thats cool yeh u should go nuts once your exams are over lol i absolutely love airsoft! i play it almost every weekend

the VSR is great i have mine upgraded to about 465fps but i think im gunna sell mine...its just not my style anymore. i like assault weapons much better =P somehow, waiting in the bush for long periods of time listening to the action going on somewhere else just doesnt suit me anymore. the m14 looks amazing! i was considering buying it but i just got too impatient so i got a new MP5 :p

EDIT: haha yes we airsoft women are a rare breed

***My apologies for going off topic and continuing to do so, will move all relevant airsoft posts to the airsoft thread (created some time ago) as soon as the relevant mod moves the thread from the recreation section to the sports section***

Hehe, the MP5's are nice guns. I havn't upgarded any of mine internally. Partly because the UK limit for AEG's and gas guns in a match is around 350fps. (Sniper rifles are an exception) I dont really intend to beef them up internally either, I'd rather spend on something else.

What games have you played before/intend to play in? I.e what sort of enviroment? cause the mp5 is more suited for CQB's really... it won't perform as well outdoors.

yeh i lvoe the MP5s! i havent done any internal stuff to mine either and i dont think i will partially because i wont be able to use it indoors without a velocity reducer and i dont wanna spend extra money for that...for now all i want to do to my MP5 is get a new RDS because my old one kinda...died

i think the MP5 does really well outdoors personally but then again i usually play close quarters when im outdoors anyway...the only thing i find annoying is when the wind picks up cuz then the BBs go everywhere :( i find indoor games arent as fun as outdoor with the MP5 because you cant use full auto lol well at least in our group =P

Question: Aren't airsoft guns, BB guns with CO2 tanks? This is the first time I have heard about airsoft guns. You can actually shoot people with that?

Ultimately, airsoft guns fall in 3 main categories:

Springers - Self cocking pistols and bolt action sniper rifles/shotguns.

Gas - Some can run on CO2 but most GBB (gas blow back) guns such as pistols and machine pistols run on green gas (HFC 22 or HFC 134a)

Electric - AEGs (Automatic Electric guns) such as larger assault weapons, e.g. rifles and smgs run on large batteries and require motors.

All of which use ammunition called BBs (Ball Bearings). small, round, hard plastic spheres. The rate at which they fire out of airsoft guns range between something like 150fps (feets per second) for weak spring pistols to some 500-600fps for sniper rifles. The power can be upto 1J!! and yes, people do scream a lot in fights.

Almost all airsoft guns are 1:1 scale replicas of a real gun, ranging from M16 rifles, M249 LMGs, MP5 SMGs, to Glocks, USPs and Desert Eagles. It's all there.

I've played in the one CQB game and I thought MP5's were the best suited to it. Fairly small and compact. Some people had M16's and they were just too big. Mind you, this was in a house with basements and 4 floors. I also found out that torches were the best accessory for your gun... when people started shooting out the lights the torch does wonders... blinds people and predicts their location via the shadows they cast... they just can't get near you :D

I see, I was thinking of the metal balls. But plastic would be less painful. What kind of masks/armor do they use? Even a plastic bb can go through goggles if shot up close or if it had enough power. Also, are the airsoft guns like bb guns. Where you just pour bbs into a small hole and they shot, or do they have some special type of loader?

You can get some BB's which contain a bit of metal in them (for greater penetration. And I think they're not quite as "plastic" as I first thought, but definately made of hardy material. The weights range between 0.15g to 0.4g (I think anyway). Most guns use 0.2g as standard. Sniper rifles may perhaps use heavier ones.

Eye/mask protection range from mesh masks to specialised goggles. I personally wear a balaclava with a swat helmet, and depending on the situation I either wear goggles or the riot visor, or both!

Standard AEG magasines which hold around 50 rounds needs one by one BB hand loading. High cap magasines which holds some 200-300 rounds is poured it. Gas gun magasines needs to be fed in one by one - can be helped using a speedloader. Shotgun cardriges hold about 5 rounds each.

I'll get a picture with me in full swat gear at some point.

sniper rifles usually use 0.28 BBs because they weigh more so you'll get more accuracy out of the 0.28s.

As for goggles i use ESS goggles which are specifically designed for things like the military firefighters swat use etc. its more expensive but id rather be safe than sorry because some people upgrade their guns insanely sometimes even illegally (anything over 500 fps here i believe)

Cherrygirl, are those 2 guns you stated the only guns you have? no sidearms? I have so many because I'm more of a collector than a gamer to tell you the truth.
