I can only comment from my unexperienced view...meaning more or less that I've played the old (Westend was it?) version tons of times in the past, and glimpsed thru the new system...

I've never played Wizards version, but from bits I've read, it follows D&D3E's d20 system. Not a bad system, but after being so used to the old way of things, it's really been an adjustment. (Specifically, it would also be strange for SW players to have to toss around d20s rather than tons of d6s like in the past :p)

I like the idea of having HP rather than injury levels (that always was my biggest hatred with the ol' SW). But beside that point, I like the unique way the old Skills, and powers were used as opposed to the new d20 system..

I know that was brief, but as I said, I've no experience in the new version....:)

I played a game with the new rules, wasn't it with you Matt, or was it GNZ?

I sort of like the new system also because it has the d20 system, and it is better than the d6 system... Although I do find that the system doesn't matter most of the time because you can have a fun game no matter what if you have a great game master like BMS or GNZ ;)

    been...slowly working on it...umm..i have a good site for those that want info...and a look at the new character sheets...tho, those are in .pdf files for adobe reader...mainly, been kinda busy with work...the other girl had knee surgery so i've had an influx of hours....sorry so slow on this*^-^*;;;

    Star wars RPG main page

i think, i'll just have ppl role up a character(i heard about an online die roller hmm...that would work if chris can find it...) and thne ppl can just post the action they want to do(ie their turn) and i can role to see if it works. hmm...maybe i can borrow andy's blank dice mwahahah lol

umm.but least i think i've found an idea for a test game that should be SHORT. there's a key word there, can you find it? mainly to break the bugs in the idea...it'll be like this. you have one turn a day(or more depending on players) you'll post in a certain order in combat...out of it will be specified. you don't post till the person before you posts...if you post out of turn, that action will simply be ignored until it's you turn, then you'll be asked to post your action. sigs will be turned off. and do not assume your action goes the way you want it to...you can describe what you're trying to get it to do, but don't assume it worked they way you think. i will try to post inbetween as may turns as possible...of it'll go kinda

player 1: i shoot the wookie in the head 4 times with my blaster rifle.
gm: no, only once per turn. you have a penelty for the called shot(to his head). your shot misses his head and hits the wookies shoulder you do...20 damage....the wookie ain't lookin too hot anymore.

wookies' turn...guess who he's shooting back at? he shoots at player 1...and he misses horribly...the wall is now very holy...(heh)

player 2: i'm gonna shoot the wookie too!

and so on...if there is an order to the posting, it will be posted with the beginning of combat. ie

GM: and the group of ppl in the corner table get up and take out some guns and are now moving towards you. the posting order is: npc1, npc2,player2, player1, player3, npc5, npc4, npc6(leader) player4. remember when you should post please.

and remember your name in the subject line, please. more on this to come.*^-^*

I've played the d20 Star Wars. I don't have the book, but I'd maybe like to join in. Problem is that I don't remember how many skill points or what special abilities each class gets, so once I start getting an idea of what I want to do with a character, I'd need to ask for some reminders.

no probs there...i have..."borrowed" my bf's books...bwahahaha so, questions are easy...skill points depend on the class i believe...but it's normally 1d* + int modifier. the dice varies from class to class

OK, lets start with some basic ones. First off, are you allowing Jedi Guardians or Force Adepts? If so, I'd like to know their base number of skill points a level and first level special abilities. I'd also like to know how many skill points fringers, scoundrels, and scouts get. If I remember right, fringers get a jury-rigging bonus and a Diplomacy bonus when negotiating for parts at first level, scoundrels get one dice reroll a session and a bonus when negotiating over illegal goods, and scouts get the Track feat. Am I correct on these special abilities?

I'd definitely go human, as I'm addicted to bonus skill points and feats, but I haven't decided on a class yet.

and you get in good with the empire by being human! lol umm...gimme a bit and i'll post as much of that info as i can...as for the jedi questions, i will allow adepts, as for guardians, well, i want a good (but simple) back story, like who you trained under and that kinda thing...i need to talk to chris about the period this is happening in tho, as i myself, have not seen the adventure yet...but i think it should be around the time of the trade federation...but before the the 4th movie(the first one..lol) but, skill points will be easy to figure out....one sec...but, any human character gets a bonus feat at first lvl...

    ..
    .
    .
    .
    guardian:
    skill pts @ 1st lvl (4+int mod)x4; after that (4+int mod)
lvl 1 abilities(you must mean starting feats): weapon group proficiency(blaster pistols); wgp(simple weapons); force sensitive; control
(talking to bf now, the feats change a bit tho, i'll get the new stuff...soon...or, that site i posted, it can convert and show you the chamges...)
@ 1st lvl you have a lightsaber but use it at a -4 penelty until you learn exotic weapon proficiency(lightsaber)(learned at 2nd lvl),3rd you get the force feat "alter" and at 4th you get force feat"sense".after that you get bonus feats for becoming a knight(lvl 7) and a master(lvl 13).
but, i like how my bf deals out feats, pretty much, if you do something alot and suceed at it, he'll give you a feat related towards it...like say, you lie your butt off to your freinds and they can't seem to see through it, you would, after alot of this, get the feat "trustworthy" or if you're really good at sneaking around places alot and have yet to e caught, you'd get "stealthy"

    fringer:
    lvl 1 points (6 + int mod)x4; 6+int mod after that
    lvl 1 feats: wgp(simple weapons);wgp(blaster pistols);
plus a bouns feat chosen from the following:alertness, endurance, light armor profeciency, run, wgp(blaster rifles), wgp(primative weapons)
    vitality: 1d8+con mod

    scoudrel:
    vitality:1d6 + con modifier/level
first lvl skill pts: (8+int mod)x4; 8+int mod
lvl 1 feats: wgp(simple weapons), wgp(blaster pistols), illicet barter

    scout:
    i'll put it up laters

At this point I think I'll go either Force Adept or Scoundrel, 'cause if I don't have the Force I like to at least have a cargo-load of skill points. Before I go online again in a couple of days, I'll probably go to the bookstore and take some notes on what the adept's class abilities are and figure out what Force training I'd do and what abilities my skills should focus on. Thanks for posting the skill point and feat info for the others, though!

Are you using the Revised rules that were published this year (the one with Episode II characters on the front cover)?

Uhh... Ack!!! It's just so hard to decide what abilities to take! It usually takes me about a week to make a character, and to really study all the feats and skills to know what I want, I'd have to buy the book. But... $40? That's steep for me right now.

So - Female Human Force Adept, probably with Control as my first Force Training, ranks in Heal Self, Force Stealth, Empathy, Enhance Ability, Survival, Treat Injury, Hide, and one or two others. Haven't decided on my feats yet. Ambidexterity and Two-Weapon Fighting to make full use of my quarterstaff, or a Force feat and something else...? Feat decisions are the toughest.

ok, i'm just gonna list the starting classes that are available...while i have the revised rulebook here...my bf says he'll help me out and i know know what the adven is...lol if i can get ppl to not pick the same thing, that'd be cool...also, if someone wants to be a jedi guardian that'd be neat...i could work that in with the npc..lol easier to see why you'd be there then...lol but whatever...here we go

fringer, noble, scoundrel, scout, soldier, tech specialist, force adept, jedi consular, jedi guardian.
after requirements have been met, prestigue classes are also available...*^-^*but, no one can start as them...these include :
bounty hunter, crime lord, dark side devotee, dark side marauder, elite trooper, jedi ace(pilot), jedi investigator, grand inquisitor(dark side), jedi master, officer, starship ace, hand, and others...end of july the jedi book is out so that'll help with that...and well...not sure if anyone wants to be dark side stuff...lol i know i posted that up above anyways...lol
