Yet again I had popped in SMJ to start over again, and I noticed something that really is kind of pointless, but I wanted to know if anyone else had noticed:

The Dojo Obiichi Soemon teaches at has a sign that reads "Aoi Ryu Martial Arts"...

Just wondering, are you a qualified teacher as well, Lady A, since your title is close? :D

Aoi means blue, Echiko. And yes, Matt, you caught me. I can keep it a secret no longer. Aside from being an intern, a college student, a writer, a book seller and web publisher, I moonlight as Soemon Obiichi, our favorite kenpo teacher of few words.

Actually, in all seriousness, yes, I have been known to teach at times. This Friday I will be assisting with a theatre education program. So hey, if the shoe fits...

And since this thread is labeled odd things we notice after watching the series too many times, I've got one.

Anyone ever notice that Hanagata's shirt changes? In episode one of J, his shirt covers his neck. In episode 2, his neck is bare (refrains from making an ecchi comment at that). In episode 3 I believe his neck is covered again, but it varies througout the show. Simple accident on the animators' part, or does Hanagata change his shirt a lot?

Well that's one more reason to like hime. He's actually Hygienic, unlike the rest of those slobs who wear the same stuff all the time

I couldn't agree with you more, Mamiya.

Some other random things about Hanagata that I've noticed:

@>--->--- In J, his tights fit him like tights should. In J to X, they're a little baggy around the backs of his knees.

    @>--->--- In J to X, his hair is slightly shorter and his bangs aren't as long when you look at him from behind o_O;

@>--->--- In SMJ ep. 8, Hanagata's neck covering appears to be closed with a white bow at the back. (I wish I could scan the picture to show you this :(. Just trust me when I say it does)

He also has a clock shaped like a crescent moon in J to X.

I wonder if I qualify as a Hanagata stalker now?

Aoi-chan, ya sure noticed many Hana facts! I would NEVER have noticed those points about his outfit changes and the white bow. Hey, you know, is it the Hanagata family gene thing to have the two short strips of hair on the side curve up? Everyone is the family me saw so far has that trait.

*L* why thanks, Sachi. Here's another one, that my good friend Dove pointed out to me today:

Kamatarou and Hanagata both have the same scowl. And one that I noticed. If you look very closely at Kamatarou, you will see that he has light blue eyes like his son. It seems father and son aren't that unalike after all.

Remember in SMJ ep. 1 when the Gartlant spy scans Otaru, then Lime? And remember the words that showed up?

    *Gartlant spy saber scans Otaru*
    MENSCH

    *Gartlant spy saber scans Lime*
    SABER MARIONETTE
    MADCHEN STROMCHREIS

InuYasha - German is my weak point...

Mädchen Stromkreis, to be anal about spelling :)

Stromkreis.. well, literally it does mean circuit. But it is more in the sense of the circuit from the lightswitch to the lightbulb (an electrical circuit) If you wanted to translate curcuit with more of a sense of being a processor, you would use Schaltkreis. Hehe SMJ caught in the act of using babelfish :D

And Mensch translates human btw, not man like one might think (though on Terra II, there really isn't a difference is there :D )

(well, it can be translated as man, sort of like how in english, the species of man means humans) anyway...

    re: German and necklines

MO- What about Nietzche's famous phrase 'ubermench' (sorry I don't know how to put the umlaute over it). I thought that literally translated to "over-man". German is my weak point too, though. But I'd be interested in more info.

Hanagata and necklines: Okay, I went thru the first volume of my SMJ filmbooks today, and this is what I found:

    Ep. 1 ~ Covered Neck
    Ep. 2~ Uncovered Neck
    Ep. 3 ~ Covered Neck
    Ep. 4 ~ Uncovered Neck
Ep. 5 -7 no pics of Hana :(
    Ep. 8 ~ Covered again.

Hrm... is there a pattern here?
