yes i do understand that. and of course, because video games are now so damn mainstream pop culture, a boycott will never happen, and an even bigger pool of morons are added to the equation >.> thus, the violence this launch includes murder before christmas. isn't the game community just so damn mature? XD

Mature? Of course we're mature. Most of the gamers I hear about (besides me and my totally cool uber 1337 friends) are like, 30 and still living with their moms. And no, they aren't waiting for their house to be built, they just don't wanna leave home. ;)

Why does there even have to be a war??

all true gamers have all the systems or if they are hard core haters of a certian platform, they have a friend that has the "damnable" object and plays on that.

If you like games the console shouldn't matter, its the games, the graphics, and how dependable the damn console is.

On the gaming business being mature or not i feel >:p being mature and being a genius have nothing to do each other. >:p

The Gamecube is made for punishment because theres a high chance its going to be in the hands of a hyper-active 10 year old with a serious temper problem.

Concise and intelligent. You're surprising me more and more flies. That above is a true statement. I play my games on any system because a good games are on all systems, not just one. I'd forgotten about that.

Still beating the hell outta an X-Box 360 is halarious. They should have done it with more people watching. That would have been golden. Destroying an object desired by so many just to spite them... *sniff* I love the human spirit. It goes to show just how petty our own wants and needs are now-a-days.

Still, I've never played a game worth $350. Ah sweet FF:VII remake, I can only hope for you.

i thought this was going to be funnier. they didn't do a very good job of it though. i would have liked to hear what that dude with the i love xbox t-shirt had to say.
they should have interviewed a heap of hardcore fans and then smashed it in front of them.
and 1 other thing, why did they need to buy another sledgehammer if they'ed already done a smash my ipod video?.

Because they didn't use a sledge hammer then, it was a one handed hammer that was made similar to sledge hammers.

Besides, you can use a regular hammer to smash something as small as an iPod. :p I still don't get why people think it's cool to smash something that others worked so hard to create. 'Tis a shame really, so much hard work and planning smashed into pieces in seconds...

Okay then... What I meant was that I feel sorry for the guys who thought of the idea only to have it destroyed. So what if a machine can assemble one in under a minute? It still hurts to see good material and hardware smashed by idiots. It's a waste of resources I say. Down with Smash My X-BOX!

a possible scenario...but don't you think it more likely that the shortage is genuine?. they would have been working round the clock to get the thing to lauch, especially with christmas and the ps3 breathing down their necks. it would take a long time to manufacture enough consoles for the rush, meanwhile the completed units are sitting in storage waiting for the numbers to grow. that pushes the lauch date back, and costs big $$$ for warehouse storage etc, all when they could be selling them to die-hard fans. i think microsoft knew full well there was never going to be enough, but this was really the only logical way to launch.
they destroyed 1 of what will be millions. i'm sure they really don't care. what they'ed be more concered with is the claims of scratched disks etc.
hurah! for mindless destruction and the morons who funded it! :D

I disagree. While Microsoft's foray into the console buisness has been a little haphazard, I feel that the competition they have generated is well worth it. Sony and Nintendo all have to increase thier standards and strive to produce a better product as a result of MS. In the end we gamers win. I see no sin in that.

MS got thier money for thier product and those kids did what they wanted with it. Everyone got what they wanted and for the first time ever both parties were happy with the purchase. I'm not sure I see the waste.

The same thing happened with the release of the PS2 and the Original X-box. There wasn't enough units to cover the number of people dashing out to buy them. They didn't learn from thier mistakes before at all. They knew from the number of reservations being made that this was going to be a big ticket item. From the get go they at least had an inkling that this product would sell as good if not better than thier original; especially with all thier hype behind it. Are you saying that his multi billion dollar corp simply didn't produce fast enough, utilize enough production sites, or simply plan ahead well enough?

A powerhouse like MS has the money to overcome these kinds of problems. They purposefully limited the release of the 360 to increase sales for the christmas season and raise thier own hype. They can maintain that $350 - $400 price tag longer as long as kids want it bad enough.

Actually, destroying a console is bad for the company that made it. The technology that companies are putting into their console is very expensive-more expensive than the system costs. Companies haven't profitted off of console since a long time. It's the game sales that they make money off of. They don't even get the full $400 from the consoles, how do you think the retailers get any money? If you buy a console and never buy any games for it the company that made it will loose money.

But, Microsoft has actually been doing very well in the gaming industry. Ranking a close 2nd in the U.S. makes up for the small amount of success in Japan. I don't know how it's doing in Europe but a lot of gamers I know from Europe like and support it.
