    Next riddle!

    Genre: 2D platform shooter

Platform: PC, SNES (first released on PC)

    Release date: 1992

Hint: It was famous for its high quality bitmap graphics and rotoscoping techniques, and it only required 2 floppy disks for installation!

    ===========================
    It all started with school
I was working on this thing
which was serving as a tool
Who could know what it would bring?

Alien guys who wiped my brain
    came disguised as human beings
They hate us above all things
I must stop them, or we're slain.

    Sounds like Flashback
But that was relesed on a host of other platforms too.
I first played it on the Mega Drive/genesis.

Why the hell did conrad have a red shirt on the SNES, it looked awful.

I would. :p I mean, try turning about and the ammo packs on the ground stay flat and rotate with you. It was a "faked" 3D...

Nah Doom was real 3D. Yeah it used 2D sprites but it was in a 3D environment.
Fake 3D is tekken. Or at least tekken 1, 2 and 3. They're the only ones I've played.
It has a large 3D enivronment but still only uses a 2D plain.

I know what you mean, it uses sprites for items and enemies... the thing is, if you look at it from that point of view then there isn't any game that is in 'true' 3D, they all just show a 2D projection of the world... That's why I think it's ok to call it 3D :)

    Good point dude.

The only true 3D game I can think of then is the Holodeck in Star Trek. Even virtual reality is just 2 images projected on each eye.

So unless the get something similar the holodeck(pretty much everyones dream, Star Trek fan or not) or something that sends info directly to you brain. We will never have true 3d gaming.

I guess that just encourages me to go out and do the real thing.

    I'm gonna grab my shotgun.

Okay, so I'm through trying to cover up my stupidity....out with why I guessed Doom in the first place - I read 2D as 3D somehow...okay? Feel free to point and laugh, now, at the guy who can't read. :p

Well I wouldn't really call it a sequal.
It was made by the same people but it was totally different. Different characters, diferent setting.

In fact I have no idea why people call it a sequal.
But Fade to Black was the sequal to Flashback.
    That was an awesome game.
