I know this is based on anime but as you move into live action daikiju (gaint monsters Godzilla, Gamera ect.) As the dubs get older they get worse. This is almost true but they you get a few bads newer ones like Godzilla vs. MegaGirius.

One rule goes for almost all Japanese run (love hina, gundam ect.) dubs Sometimes they get annoying like in Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II instead of saying Rodan they say Raydon. Some dubs are better than others. The ADV Gamera dubs are ok. As movie go deeper into the past 50 years (The life of Godzilla) thye dubs get worst as well as the speical effects. There are still exceptions like in Godzilla vs. MegaGirius.

I rant about MegaGirus because it is newer from within the last 3 years

It's a toss-up between the original English dub of Sailor Moon and Knights of Ramune. The English dub of the latter is so bad that I have owned the thing since the summer but have never finished watching it because I'm afraid ... very afraid.

the worst worst dubbing i've seen so far is the new shonen jump one piece relased on fox, some dubbings u can get use to after u hear it for a bit, but this the voice completely don't match the charater and their personality, and the starting song it's even more horriable, why do they have to remake everything, if ur going to dub a show atleast use some famous voice over actors.

Oh, the worst dubbing of anime Ive seen!? After watching the original Japanese Dub of Digimon, I totally loved the series. Then about two years later, I moved into USA and saw the Dubbed version. Ughh......the voice acting is disgusting (especially Mimi and all of the Digimon). Then you have that craptastic soundtrack they gave it. Oh please, that just ruins the series.
No wonder some people hate it.

You don't live in the Netherlands or Belgium, do you? Because it's the exact same way here. There is ONE freaking studio doing ALL the cartoon dubbing into Dutch..

Anyway, since we don't get much English cartoons aired, I have to go with uhmm... well hentai can have shitty dubs too, such as Immoral Sisters... Aweful!
Oh, and Record of Lodoss War, some characters could sound rather preachy... there where good ones among them, but the cleric boy was too preachy for my likings..

*goes off yet again to hunt down Kendra Masonchuk, Mariette Sluyter, and all the rest of the english cast to Saber Marionette J for reasons obvious to anyone*

Kendra Masonchuk especially. I've put aside some very special things for her.

*KaiyonTormentor looks at Shinryu, but looks away after a second*
    "Hmm...the SMJ cast, eh!?"
*KaiyonTormentor decides he has better things to do and walks away mumbling*
"Off to the Love Hina Dubbing studios, especially Derek Stephen Prince (Keitaros dub voice)."

Most dubs don't bother me. As long as I can watch the series :p

But you know the dubbing of YGO has annoyed me. Not with the dub voices (Eric Stuart makes a kickin' Kaiba XD of course, i prefer the original voices. Anzu's english really annoys me tho...grr...) but with the actual things 4kids changed. i dunno, but when you change something in the artwork (i.e. erasing guns out of hands, getting rid of all kanji, giving Harpie Lady more 'coverage' and erasing the spikes on her breasts...) I think that's just completly wrong. It's like you're violating the work. it's just not right.
And I didn't like the names either! Normally dubbers choose pretty decent names (they have similar meanings to the original names) but I can't figure it out. How'd they Tristan Taylor out of Hiroto Honda? Oo

Btw, Kaiyon Tormentor why do you think we're running out of voice actors? What's so wrong with these voice actors doing roles in other animes and shows? Have you seen the way seiyuu in Japan arde? Megumi Hayashibara, Aya Hisakawa and Tomokazu Seki have like a 100+ roles!

Well, as many of you may or may not know, my anime collection is strictly limited (as well as my downloading) so im not all up for all the goodies in animes. I havent heard all of it yet. But recognizable voices for me are kind of nerve racking. I heard the same voice in RK, Love Hina, Trigun, GTO and a few others.
The reason i stated that we're running out of actors is because i believe the old ones are getting kind of worn out (ex: the english dubbers i stated or the japanese voices you stated as well). I think its time for maybe a new generation of voice actors is needed. Maybe some new voices for the newer animes (who have not been made or dubbed). All the same, English Dubbers really kill some of the series and yet they get hired for some other series. Its like hiring a hitman to kill an anime series. They just hire voice actors because of their experience and previous work (and because there isnt that many variety of people). While i strongly agree we should get some new ones, some of the old voices never really grow old! So, yeah! We may be running low on some good voices, but I should have written this before, there are still good ones out there. (Read PS message to FR)

PS: I love Kaiba's Dub voice too! Thats the one out of the only few english I preffer! He cracks me up. Him, and i think i like Pegasus too! Heh!

I don't listen to dubs, just happend that my friend's older brother liked anime and has some huge VHS collection and most of them were dubbs.

So I took some, and one of them was either DBZ or Sailor Moon, and the dubbing was hedious. The voice actors were originally from India but they were talking in an english accent.. the suck..!!

Well you know...the dubbers actually hold auditions. ^^ the same with the creators in Japan. I remember watching the Nurse Witch Komugi-chan dub commentary, and the voice actor for Komugi was tlaking about how odd the audition was. They choose these people out of several others and how they think they fit the characters.
So they on't choose the voice actors merely for 'status' or 'experience'. Voice actors have demo tapes too they have to send in. it is NOT an easy job.

Even so, dont you at least think some of the chosen voices for any disparticular anime are a little out of place.
Just an example out of the ball park: In Love Hina, why does the Kitsune dub voice have a southern accent. I loved here Japanese voice, why not choose a more suitable one!? Some of the voice roles are perfect for them (ex:Kaiba or Wolfwood) but some are just plain poor (Kitsune or Mimi from digimon).
Talent is out there, i think that a part of it hasnt been found yet!
