Eirtaku Anime cinema in Dublin! ...kind of

so whats the story with tomorrow night? what's being shown and when/where

 

Errr yeah, here's a reminder:

Tomorrow there will be a showing of Lord of the Rings at 5 pm in Trinity College, in the Macneill lecture hall.
About ten minutes after it's over, I'll be showing some anime, I'm not sure for how long (I guess at least for an hour and a half)

So the anime should be at 8pm or 8:10pm, if all goes well (I hope it's not too late for anyone...)

As to what will be shown... I have no idea (I'm very undecisive )

Maybe Ninja Scroll? it was rated 16s in finland
Is the rape scene that bad?

Heh, that is a GREAT idea!

I have been trying to think of ways of setting up something like that, but the small infrastructure of my college makes it impossible (American College Dublin).

Anyways, if you are still interested in doing this, I have quite a big anime collection, although the only things subbed in English I got are:

VHS (NTSC):

VCD (Video CD, can usually be played in any regular DVD player but not a PS2):

We held an anime showing last week in Trinity and there probably won't be another one held until some time in June as most everyone is now sitting exams. But when there is another held you should definately come along, it's good fun.

As Nicholas D already said we did a showing last week and it worked out great.
My last exam is on the 4th of June, so I'll have no problem organizing it again anytime after that.

There's a PC and an iMac with a DVD drive in the lecture hall, so there shouldn't be a problem playing VCDs and DVDs.... There's also a VHS player, but I havent tried it yet, should work tho...
The DVDs look much better on the big screen than the VCDs so I dont know if it would be a good idea to play VCDs.
As for DivX... I wasnt able to install the DivX codec on the PC (I didnt have enough access rights) but I guess I could try on the Mac.

Anyway, we should definitely do this again sometime in June!

Well, maybe I could get some of you guys into the greatness that is Gundam!!!

You see, I am kind of an old-timer in Eirtaku, I joined around a year ago when I arrived in Ireland (I am Argentine). I happen to have a quite extensive anime and manga collection... in spanish. I have all of Evangelion, Saint Seiya, Macross and many MANY more... in spanish. Because we have a lot of it on TV back home.

Oh, I also have Revolutionnary Girl Utena in Real Media (39 episodes TV series) and its movie (2-disc VCD). Also, I got Macross Plus (movie version in VHS) and the Escaflowne and Evangelion movies (non-VCD MPGs of good quality).

All I have in english is subtitled, I hate english dubs.

I tried to get people from here into Gundam but I failed quite miserably. The only people remotely interested are Mad Hamish and Michiru, and that's cuz I kinda bully them into watching it ^_^.

 

Well well well, your from Argentina. That at least makes it three poeple who speak spanish. The Lord of Terror, myself and you, though of the three of us I am the only non native spanish speaker I guess. I have loads of anime myself as the LOT could attest to(though what he has seen wouldn't even account for a third of it) but I would love to see Utena if it's a good quality copy.
The only gundam anime I have are Char's Counterattack the movie and 0800 War in the Pocket. I am definitely thinking of buying more Gundam. I'll probably get the 0079 Gundam movies and Zeta Gundam which are the only Gundam series I'm interested in getting aside from 0083 OVA but I can't find an unedited version of that so, carp.
Now you said you have an extensive collection of anime in spanish, I have quite an obsession with Dragon Ball Z dubbed in spanish and I would love to get my hands on some.

methinks that the dbz english dub is great though, not too fond of the original japanese one, but then again I have only heard one or two low quality eps.
