Yeah I have no idea why people would... I see new people who may have lower post counts but it's awesome to see new opinions and have more people share stuff about Anime!!! And the people who have a higher post count, maybe the members may know that higher post counted person a bit more... but that doesn't mean that their posts are any better than a new members. I mean a new member may have just come from travellin the world watching every anime they came upon and are masters.
Ah it in some ways shows how active a user is.. yes there is the downside to it with the spaming for a higher post count.. but for me it shows how much ive been posting. frankly as long as your posting some relivent i dont care.. KaMe
well, i understand why most of the stuff shouldn't be in the animetomanga forums, and on the other, i can see why some of it can be in the misc part. i think once a thread either has begun to show the potential for anger or harshness, or shows a great possibility to start it, then it shouldn't have been made. alot of posts change how you will respond to other ppl. the sad thing i know that's happened to my posts at least, is that know that i know lots of ppl are really religious, i kinda don't post on soem threads cause i know my post will really piss someone off. i deal with ppl on a very daily basis, and understand that ppl see way too much into things. what can start out being soemthing you think is safe, will be interpeted as something else. the virginity thread was voluntary. you didn't have to post if oyu wanted to, in fact most ppl seemed quite proud, but then it got changed around by a post somewhere along the lines...the better sex one was worse i think. but, it's the individual forums mods that should have the desicion in their seperate boards. that's why they were chosen to moderate them. not to make a desicion, and then have it changed by soemone else cause they didn't like it, or say it was offensive. and please, i'm NOT pointing fingers...don't read it like that. i'm just saying the if the mods for the board got together and made the choice, then it's been maturely looked at and evaluated. in theory. and thus, the course of actuion that would be better for that board has been taken. we're just here to keep all you ppl from killing each other really. to help out and make the time you spend here good. tis all. if you have a complaint about a thread, talk to the creater, or the mods for the board. there are alot of us, not just one.
Bloodberry has a good point.. and also. i after i did what i did.. most ppl agreed with what i did anyway.. I was just the one to finaly say.. Enough is Enough.. KaMe
Well, I liked those "what are you..." threads, I mean sure there was a lot of shameless "Im eating nothing tee hee" "im still eating nothing teeheehee does that count?" spamshite but I put some good sh!t into those threads, you know? And i learnt stuff. Above all the sheer reply count on such threads should have shown they were popular. Give the people what they want. In this case theres no harm in it, because... *holds up finger, puts on stupid quaky voice* JUst because a thread's there doesn't mean you have to read it. One more thing. How can someone say that cleavage has nothing to do with Manga and Anime, when Anime is the leading sourse in giving millions of people world wide their daily dose of cleavage. Hell, I love cleavage. Cant get enough cleavage No siree...
Ugh, it's happening again. There was a rather heated discussion about the whole censorship/virginity thang between some of the mods when it first came around. What was decided? I'm not quite sure to be honest, but it was laid to rest. I think it was decided that it was a bit too graphic for the board, but if anyone has any suggestions about what to do about it, by all means speak. As for the "What are you..." threads, I have no strong oppinions on these. I always read them, and often posted on them, but there was little real substance, although I tried to put something into most of my posts. I think we can live without them.
We can live without this entire FVCKING board but its still fun. Its why we eat pizza with salad instead of supliment pills! We can live without tv, games, popeyes chicken and anime but we'd much rather have them becuse god knows no one can spend that long bonking. Show me a person who has JUST what they need to survive and i'll show you an unhappy person. I like silliness almost as much as I like whiskey and the way girls walk, ergo I liked that thread.
I think that's a case of taking an off hand comment (made by DL) and then blowing it waaaaaay out of proportion. Chill out dude. And people say "heated discussions" like it's a bad thing.
hmmm im sure i closed that thread.. but i see you posted again. so i closed it again and i hope no one reopens the thing.. KaMe
Ya, Wolfwood, I was that comment was merely an aside. I was just saying that they weren't the most important thing in the whole board, and I wasn't too bothered either way about them. Relax the old cacks.
in think it's just really think about what you say and if you think it's truely relevant...<shrugs> but it's up to each boards mods to make the call...whatever..nothing bothers me, so what ever...well, not entirly true..but it's been cut down on, so i'm happy*^-^*
Wow~! this thread grew FAST! hmmm... can I offer anything...? Yeah, course I can. 1. I wasn't aware that the silly threads took up resources, if this is the case, and that having them means we're missing out on something, you did the right thing by taking them down. 2. If misc is truly misc, then the subject should be allowed to roam as far as it wants, just like a normal conversation. Those who don't want to get involved will stay looking in the subject related boards, such as Anime and Manga. 3. If the moderators are truly just members who are looking out for members best interests, then the special "Mods only" board should be open for viewing by all members. We may not be allowed to add to it, but then we can raise issues with the moderators, based on dicussions that they have, instead of what happens at the moment when decisions seem to spring from the blue, and are made regardless of who they affect. This would also mean that the problem would be able to be addressed, instead of suddenly coming on and being completely locked out of a thread, with only a little scornful message from a mod to let you know what the problem was. How about a democracy, instead of a dictatorship. Think about it.
welcome back to this thread you've spawned good post (I know you're so glad to have my approval) (incidentally, you know it's only with you that I feel the need to post these bracketed disclaimers. I just keep waiting for the outburst asking why the hell it matters what I think of your post. ) anyway, your points: 1- they do, but I really don't know how much.. still, I was happy to see them go for other reasons, a sentiment shared by most who've said anything about it. can't please everyone 2-I disagree 3-hmm.. must mull that over. At first glance, I don't like it. I can see being flooded with complaints regarding every discussion back there, many of which never result in anything. So.. am I saying it is better to take the action first and then get the complaints? dunno. At any rate, no board I've ever been on/modded has given members access to backstage. On most boards, that forum isn't even visible. Then, on most of these boards, mods also get a tiny bit of respect [subliminal message]bow to me[/subliminal message] We could make everyone a mod, like in the chat room
Haa.... I was a bit BLACK Wolfwood when i wrote those posts, guess i over did a little. But still, I always think that somethin harmless, fun and clearly popular with most people shouldn't be shut down just cause it bothers some people. Thats called needless abuse of power, kids. MOds, should raise issues which they concider to be contrevertial with the people to see if they care or ARE offended. Not just play the nanny role and abolish anything besides discussions about approved anime or how nice everything is. Seeing as how most people here seem to be SMJ fans, I fail to see how discussing cleavage or sex would hurt thier poor widdle ears. Above all, you cant protect people forever. Cleavage count:6 *puts on dunce cap, walks to headmasters office...*
I think it was pretty obvious that people were getting offended in the virginity thread and the girls are better thread. It wasn't a preemptory strike done because we thought someone might be, it was done after the flames had been raging for some time already. Certain topics proved themselves to be flamebait. There's no way around that. And if someone says 'just ignore it then' one more time, I swear by all that is holy I will crush a pop-can. The aforementioned threads showed how well that theory worked. Pretty much any time something gets whacked, it was because it was patently obvious that people were offended. The problem I see with asking the members if something offends them is this: those that reply in the affirmative will be shouted down by those whom it doesn't offend, calling them babies with poor widdle ears. Enough of that, and those who are offended will just learn to keep their mouths shut. Don't tell me it hasn't happened already. changed my mind, you knew I had to
I have to disagree with the reasoning behind this. I'm not saying we can protect people forever, I'm not saying we can't, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. Many places on the net are full of *** sucking **** headed **** faced bungholes. M2A isn't, and it's up to the mods to keep it that way. Beleive it or not, we do just want what is best for the comunity at large. True, oppinions of what's best vary, that's one of the reasons we have the admin board. And Legato, who ever said it was a democracy around here?
hmm the plain and simple fact about any and all democracy's. YOU CAN NEVER PLEASE EVERYONE!.. And this place is hardly a dictator ship, its more like a grand council..... But anyway the post are closed and well the mods ruled they are staying that way.. behind our closed doors.... KaME
<nods head> as it should be... just get in a mind set that loads of ppl are offended by stupid things, like the word breast, or cleavage. both are staple parts of my vocabulary(anatomy? *^-^*) both are perfectly clean words. you can find them in text books. but it doesn't mean that somewhere, someone is going to get the perverse(sigh) way of saying the same word in their head and make a connection to getting offended. personally, i'm a very straight forward person, you can tell from a verbal conversation lasting only 5 minutes...at most. so i really hate babying words for ppl...but i can...thing is, moding isn't about nannying. if that were the case, i'd be gone. i hate kids. but, we also can't read minds, and have to guess what will piss ppl off. so there's alot of hit and miss word. just let us know what you thing is wrong, or is going right even....every bit of info helps, but if we hear nothing, well...we can't really do anything...<shrugs> [edit]hehe he changed his mind...so i have to change this[/edit[
Fascist. And OK, for the sake of the nice feel of this board close down the threads that have gone up in flames (some of them even make me a bit tense) but closing down a popular thread with heaps of posts on it because you think it's silly is patronising and dictatorial. IMO. If you want a simple, non-confronting way of shutting down most threads you don't like then just get me to post on them. It seems to work most of the time...
i also think closing the silly threads is well, silly...i mean, they're gonna happen, let em...it's a place to let out the silly energy and be funny...they're fun and give a good air to the boards...
