douzo yoroshiku means "nice to meet you"
literally it means "please teach me"

Umm... SonGoten, you said "I'm an idiot. I'm a cat. I'm coocoo for cocoa puffs." ... Right.

I do have a question. I have heard several ways to refer to yourself. Ore, Boku, Watashi, Watakushi. What is the difference? I think it has to do with the context, but I'm not sure. Perhaps someone could help with this?

LOL yeah i did say that shinryu. i didn't know what else to say so i just said stuff at random.

    btw:
"ore" is a tough, very manly, impolite way of saying "I". same meaning as watashi but it sound like you are speaking waaay to tough. should only be used among friends.

"boku" is kinda imformal, not too much, not like "ore" at least. normally teens use this but i hear it's kinda not toooooooooo manly or something. safer to use than "ore" tho

one you didn't mention that i thought i'd let you know is "atashi". the female version of "boku". still kinda imformal but safe among friends and safer than "ore". girls use this kind of a lot, and so do homosexuals O_O
"watashi" is like the most polite one. can be used when talking to ANYONE.

"watakushi" is a bit more polite than "watashi". all that "watashi" is is a shortened version of this word. either one can be used, but i recommend "watakushi" simply because it is a bit more polite/formal.

another one that you didn't mention that i thought i'd let you know is "sessho". waaaaaay polite word right there meaning "I" too. even more polite than "watakushi", but it's kind of an old word from when there were samura and stuff like that. so you will very rarely hear it.

one correction, its not unmanly to use "boku". And guys of any age can use it. It's also considered as polite.

    Shinryuって心流なの?そうじゃなかった新竜? (笑)

Meaning what, exactly? I might have a chance if it were romanized, but I know very little of the written language.

well, technically when introducing yourself, its best to say "Watashi wa Kitoky desu" because watashi no namae etc is more of an answer to being asked "whats your name" so... just saying "watashi wa kitoky desu" is better.

Meep. Well I just thought I'd say it that way, I thought "watashi wa kitoky desu" was a bit plain.

Hajimemashite. watashi wa John desu. Dozo yoroshiku.

Hello everyone! I took nihon-go as a college course when I was stationed on Okinawa so I could impress a lovely onna no hito named Yumiko.

After my time in the Marines was over I attended the University of Central Florida, where I took two semesters of nihon-go as my "required" language. Sadly, I don't really remember much but reading through this post has helped me to remember a whole lot.

For everyone who is learning/re-learning - Gambatte Kudasai!
