Darien and followed along with Darius and Athena and he couldn't believe what Darius had gotten her to do. He grinned then looked over to Darius, but deep inside him, he was saddened. This wasn't the same girl he was coveting and then he said to Darius, "I'm going to find Leon and let him know we have her."

Darien then left, intent on finding Leon, not to lead him into a trap but to find a way to save her.

Rian blinked, and then her expression went from confusion to anger. She smacked Michael in the head as she stormed off, and shouted "There's nothing to be left in the air! It meant nothing!" When she reached the cathedral door, she angrily kicked it open. Then, for the first time, Michael noticed that Athena's sister and Leon were also following them. As he watched, they followed Rian into the cathedral. Michael looked down at the ground and sighed. As he began to walk after them he thought.
<Perhaps that wasn't such a good idea... I guess that hunch I had about her possibly liking me was a tad bit off... Wait, what am I doing thinking about girls at a time like this? I guess it's because there isn't much else to think about to occupy my time that's actually somewhat positive. And she is cute...
<Wow, this is surprising... I've been damned for about 111 years or so... And this is the first time since then that I've actually felt human emotions like this... I guess even a vampire can still be somewhat human.> He then looked back up at the cathedral, and ran after the others. He had made up his mind. It was time to tell Rian why he had done what he had done.

 

Setsaki moved into another section of his garden where you could see one of the most beautiful sight ever on the planet.

There was a large gathering of Cherry Blossoms there and he just looked at one until some of the leaves began to fall from it.

As they fell, Setsaki grabbed out his rapier and slit every petal falling to the ground into two pieces. "I'm getting better with this sword." Setsaki marveled at the light piece of pure silver.

When he finished, he sheathed the sword and lay under one of the cherry blossoms and fell asleep.

 

A vampire walked through the city, looking for Darius. But not to kill him, like so many others have done, but to...say hello and see if he needed an extra hand around.

Vincent took his time, he was in no hurry. In fact, it's been a while since he was in this city and so wandered around a bit, even when he knew Darius was elsewhere.

Yes, even now he felt him some place else. He will go to him eventually, but now he wanted to explore a bit...maybe catch a meal.

He casually pushed a few strands of light gray hair from his youthful face when he found himself in front of a human house. It has protection spells in place of course, but he felt a very faint trace of Darius' blood inside.

"Now, what do we have here?" he muttered to himself with a grin, revealing two sharp fangs.

Rian stopped in the middle of the church and looked around. If was definitely old...and destroyed. After sweeping the entire place with her eyes and not seeing anything special at that moment, she sighed and roughly sat down on one of the benches still in one piece with her arms crossed.

"What a dump!" she muttered, slouching and still looking in a bad mood.

 

Athena looked up at Darius she could smell a new vampire somewhere she blinked waiting for orders.

*Reina*
"Leon... is that what I think it is?" Reina asked, pointing at a spirit.
Reina clung to Leon's hand, ghosts/spirits were the one thing Reina was afraid of.

 

Darien walked down the street and paused in front of a broken down cathedral. He heard Reina's voice and entered. He walked in and said, from the doorway, "Leon, I must speak with you. It concerns her. You know of whom I speak."

Darien then went out of the cathedral and waited on the steps. He did not feel he had the right to be in a building that was once so grand.

Leon comforted Reina. "They might be spirits, or ghosts, but I swear to you that they cannot do a thing to those still living, except try and scare you. They are like mist. Harmless."

Then, all of a sudden, Darien had entered into their space. "Leon, I must speak with you. It concerns her. You know of whom I speak."

Leon felt a frisson run up his back. He followed Darien outside. "You aren't here to discuss this with me on Darius' behalf, are you?"

 

"Did you see me phase? Would you like to learn? I'll have to warn you, it takes great strength and mind power to stay in the death dimension, and others."

Darius was insulted by the prospect of being taught in the dark arts by some upstart vampire, yet he was intrigued by this ability. "I need you parlor tricks, but perhaps you I'll give you the honor of letting you tutor me some other time." He said to Raziel.

"Are you sure she can be trusted?" Roneri asked, "After all, she is one of Leon's..."

"We must be cautious. Her relation to Leon makes her a threat, but it also makes her good bait. And her past as a Yamamori also makes her quite useful. We should make plans accordingly. BUt first lets get rid of Athena." Darius said quietly to Roneri.

"Athena, my dear. Let me introduce you to one of the rising stars of the vampire world." Darius quipped, indicating Raziel "I want you two to do scouting on the Yamamori HQ, find an entrance that can bypass major defenses." Then said something he never thought he'd say, "Raziel, you're in charge."

 

Roneri glanced behind her to Raziel, "Dont lose sight of her."
She's too dangerous to let your guard down around... she thought, wary not of her strength but regarding the fact that Roneri did not know where Athena's loyalties lied just yet.
She grinned. She wasn't the one to trust easy. She was at one point, but that only got her int trouble.
She moved closer to Darius, still watching Athena.
She didn't quite know what to say to him at the moment about her. But she knew that when the time came, Roneri would know it.
"Whatever you have planned," She said, quiet so the other two could not hear, "I'm ready to help."

 

Raziel looked akwardly and shocked at Darius but accepted his request.

I will be able to do this with ease but I will have to keep a close eye on her..

Raziel looked then at Roneri, and said , "Stay safe and be careful."

Raziel and Athena went to the tunnels.

 

"Leon, I don't know how to tell you this but Athena's joined with Darius. She seems so different though, what's happened for her to change I know she was kind of weaker when I last saw her but she seemed so strong and devoted to your cause." Darien said to him.

He sighed and said, "She was right, I don't find her as appealing as I once did. We have to save her. But I left before I could find out any of Darius' plans."

He held his hand out to Leon to shake and said, "So for now can we call a truce?"

 

Athena walked with Raziel to the tunnels and she could feel her human side trying to regain control yet at the same time her vampire side still had control over her. She found herself winning the battle and she smiled, she was so happy. In her mind she saw her human side drive a stake through her vampire side and she regained control of herself but she felt weird and fell to the ground, motionless.

Reina

Reina looked up in her mind she had seen her sister fall to the ground and she rushed outside and she pulled on Leon's sleeve and said, "Leon, Athena needs us. She... she just needs us come on!"

Leon's hands were at Darien's throat when he mentioned Athena joining Darius. He held onto Darien's collar.

"My cause? There is no cause. Athena was not devoted to a cause. She should never have gotten involved."

Leon released his grip on Darien through sheer force of will. "Fine then. Let us have a truce. Take me now, to Darius. Forget my cause."

Leon knew he was walking into a trap, but all of a sudden, he didn't care. It was like everything was meaningless, except attaining Athena and Darius.

Then, Reina was tugging at his arm. He could not understand what she was saying. Finally he realized where he was. <No, not Denmark, fool. You are in Neo Tokodai.>

"Reina, do you know where Athena is?"

 

Reina nodded at Leon and said, "I think so. We have to hurry though, I have a feeling that if we don't I may lose my big sister before I have a chance to know her."

With that Reina took ahold of Leon's and Darien's hands and ran towards the tunnels. She saw Athena's fallen form and knelt next to her. She couldn't tell if she was dead or not and believing the first she stood up anger blazing in her eyes and left Leon and Darien with her and intended to find Setsaki, she knew that he wanted Darius killed and she would help him if she could. Darius would perish and the humans would no longer be oppressed.

 

Raziel felt strange, he felt her struggle inside somehow.

"It must be a side-effect of the phase ability," he thought. "I must get a hold of Darius and tell him that she is regaining control of her human side." He sent a message telepathically to Darius in the hopes that he could hear him this way.

Leon ran towards Athena's prone form. Then, Reina got up and began to run away. "Reina! Wait!"

He would have gone after her, but his primary concern was Athena. He looked up beseechingly into Darien's face. "Will you...find Reina and keep her safe?"

Without waiting for an answer, Leon turned his attention back to Athena. Sensing a dark presence around them, he decided to try her mind before all else. <Athena...Athena, it's Leon...>

When he heard no response, tears began to form in his eyes. <Athena!>

He looked for any sign that she could hear him, any reaction at all.

 

Athena

Athena could feel Leon's presence and she welcomed him back joyously into her mind. She could feel her strength returning to her and she felt another presence. In her mind she turned and saw the spirit of her father and in his arms was her vampire side, chained and gagged. She looked up at him questionably but then she understood and hugged him before coming back into reality. She smiled up at Leon and said, "Leon, I think... I think I'm human again... for the meantime at least."

Athena was so happy to be back and with Leon that she impulsively hugged him and then, not realizing what she was doing, kissed him lightly on his lips then hugged him again. She noticed Raziel standing near them and Darien. She then turned to Raziel and said, "As long as I am in control I will not help you or Darius and as long as I keep the memory of this incident in my mind, I will not lose control. Go back to your Lord and tell him this." To Darien she said, "I don't know why you are here but you must leave as well. I know that you are not on our side and I do not believe that you can be trusted for that matter either."

She then noticed that Reina wasn't with them and asked Leon, "Where's my sister?"

Reina

Reina was running down a street, still searching for Setsaki. She was going to avenge the deaths of her family and as she ran, thoughts entered her mind, "None of this would have happened if Leon hadn't left us and if Leon hadn't turned her she wouldn't have been placed in this kind of danger." Then she thought, "And if Dad hadn't left Athena she would be fighting along side me and wouldn't have the foolish notion that some vampires can be good.... They will all feel my wrath!!!"

 

Raziel looked fercely at Athena. Then walked into the shadows and dissapered.

He appeared behind Darius and Roneri, and said," Lord Darius, I have an urgent message from Athena. she has gained control of her humanity and Leon appeared. What should we do about this?"

Leon gave a great sigh of relief. <She is awake!>

When she kissed him, he felt an urge to deepen the kiss, which he resisted with a firm hand. She had regained control of herself, and for this he was glad. He offered her a hand and picked her up. <The other dark presence is gone. The one she spoke to. I mustn't question her yet.>

"Where's my sister?"

"She ran when she saw you. I- Athena, I just couldn't leave you! I've failed you."

Leon got up, and looked in the other direction, unable to meet Athena's gaze. <Failure...is what defines you, Aldoux. Failed to be the King- twice at that! Failed to save your love- twice there too. Failure to be a man- running like a coward from Darius, aren't you?>

Leon glanced back at Athena once. <Athena, I know what I must do. I leave to find Darius. You take care of your sister.>

 

Athena looked at Leon and said, "You haven't failed me. She probably thought I was hurt real bad and she may have been rash enough to go and try to fight Darius so I will go too. I will help you. I am still a vampire but I have learned through you how to keep control of it and let my humanity through. Let's go before Reina gets herself in too deep."

Athena then squeezed his hand reassuringly and then started to run in the direction Leon and said Reina went in. She would help them both if she could.
