Anime Anime in your school

The animation scoiety has just started off in my school the other day... havn't been to it yet but their poster campaign to attract people to the society seems quite effective so I think som 20 members should show up. They are currently showing Ghost in the shell: Stand alone complex... so that's something i'm looking forward to.

I have an announcment!!! The anime club at my school, with the help of its president, yours truely, have scheduled a visit for our entire anime club to Ushicon 2004 in Austin! Go us!!

Unfontunatly, i havent really finshed up my Ivan Issacs costume to cosplay him, so i am gunna wait till out trip to A-Kon in July 2004!!!!

Bad for us, the school wont let us show anime during the school time, so every so often, we get together at my house and watch a movie or a few episodes of a series. This saturday, we are watching Jin Roh, and out next get together, which's date has yet to be decided, we watch what we consider to be the greatest anime movie ever, Princess Mononoke.

Well, that just about sums up what my anime club is doin.

EDIT: Hey, i am pretty sure the con is actually in Austin, lol, i get these two cities mixed up ALL the time, lol, sry.

 

i actually started the anime club in my old school with my girlfriend...apparently its still got an ok following so im happy...but i havent been in that school in a while....

 

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha kids in my school think tom and jerry is an anime I've been trying to change people for 2 years by introducing them and I've gotten about 5 of them to so I can't support a club on just 5 people plus we need a teacher and no teacher will support

 

No anime group at my college.

At my highschool, all the serious anime fans watched it on their own or hung out after school. Oh, there was a "anime club". But that consisted mainly of DBZ, Zoids and whatever else was shown on Toonami.

 

We have an anime club...but most of them are total outcast nerds...i'm trying to hang on at least a THREAD of reputation that I do have, okay!

Besides, they're showing Excel Saga, which I have watched and over-watched, and while i respect it, I wish to beat it with some anime-beating stick of some sort. I voted for Haunted Junction...same basic premise (weird, so very weird) but cooler.

 

How on earth does that work?

Yeah, well, my college has a club, we meet every Sunday evening. We attend Nan Desu Kan (pun totally intended) in Denver every year, and up to this year, we've been attending A-kon. We're not going this year, though; too crowded and too long a drive for our comfort. So yeah.

 

i want one but our school is too small and not enough people will join

 

My school is in kentucky the hick state....im not a hick but not many people like anime probably about 9 people including me this sucks

 

::Sighs:: I wish more people at my school like anime as much as me.

There was one boy that like anime and manga too, but unfortunately he move.

A friend of mine like anime, but not as much as me.

And the other people that like anime watch, DBZ, DB, Yu-Gi-Oh, and other shows on CN and WB.

 

now just out of random curiosity... what defines an Otaku? what makes you an otaku? i mean yeah i can tel you that ive honestly watched over 50 different series from episode 1 to the end...and i can tell you anything there is to know about Rurouni Kenshin and Gundam Wing...but still does that define me as an Otaku? I own over 160 different mangas does that make me an Otaku? I speak japanese for the sole reason of being able to travel to japan to seek out a job in animation there, so can i be defined as an Otaku?


*whispers* one thing i will tell you is that anyone whos seen Akira and a few random episodes of DBZ and wont stop talking about how goku can kick everyones a$$ is not an otaku....

 

Im home-schooled. so therefore 50% of our school likes anime.

 

really? me too...i used to be in a private school...but that ended rather...abruptly...in my household theres something of an "anime club" my brother and two sisters watch anime all the time so...

 

My twin sister doesnt like anime. Shes to busy flirting with guys most of the time. Luckily, all my good friends are interested in it as well so we all go watch it... yeah...

 

I used to be in a private school too...Well, those are times I hope to forget...quickly...Anyways, at that private school I'm not sure if anyone had a high enough IQ to understand what anime means, or what animation means, in that case. But in my new school(With higher IQ's), I don't think anyone but me and another M2A subscriber are into anime.

 

its amazing how many people like anime at my school, i really thought that anime wasn't really a hot topic at school but me and some of my friends went around and randomly asked *yeah i know that kinda thing makes people think you got issues* and ...wow the number is amazing! we really have to start an anime club at my school.

 

Well.. Letsa see. I went to school last year in a public school -- There was my first mistake. And during English class, I had this girl named Kim sitting beside me, stareing at me while I drew what looked like to her, 'A new age Pokemon'. That was her only knowledge of anime -- Pokemon. Oh lord, save her. Well, safe to say, She didn't even knew if was anime at the time! It's hard to believe that this year, when I do not goto that school. Kim, who I don't think knows anything but Sailor Moon and Pokemon is now the head of the new anime club there, this year. When I heard this, I fled to my friend Josh, who just so happens to be in this 'anime club'. And he described it as, "It isn't an anime club. Don't worry, Tiffie. You aren't missing out on anything. It is just a bunch of girls who oogle over Sephiroth every meeting and find millions of ways to include them in every English project and paper possible. Even English teachers have all grown to know and love Sephiroth".

And that. My lovies, is the story of anime in my last years school.

As for my current school! An international boarding school in Mass. It just so happens, that the groups of Chinese ( About twenty of them ) run around the dorms, collecting as much manga as they possibly can and all read it in the same room at the same time. Knowing anything of what they are talking about, is virtually impossible to me, and I just like to listen to them laugh like Naga from Slayers. When I mean running around the dorms, they knock on random peoples doors, hold up some manga and in the little English they know, say, "You have?". But, I love the big Chinese group. When they make their daily rounds on the dorm halls, people like to call it, "The Asian Invasion." There is only one Japanese student in my school, who knows of anime but shares no interests. And as for myself, and two of my hometown friends that goto our school. We stay at our own 'ground' and have our own anime 'chats' away from the others. They simply don't understand.

through the much reluctantless of my principle :anger2: *mutters "curse his soul"* I managed to start an anime club at my school and so far the only exsisting member is ME :sad: :sweat2: there are a few kids that seem interested in joining and they do know the basic anime plus a few others like ranma and HNG and AMG but not as much knowledge as me lol
I'm trying really hard to keep it going to but my principle is being a total *** about it an he actually says that if I want to keep it up I half to write him a 3 page essay on "What is Anime" :anger2: I hate essays but I will try my best at it and hopefully I can keep it

P.S. what part of mass are you in west or east cause I'm in the berkshires to the west

 

~_~ In my school whenever I draw or being in something anime related, someone calls it Anime Porn. lol It's quite funny...I just can not remember why they call it that though.. haha, well one day I'm going to bring in Love Hina and yeah, then they will be...right, sorta lol. oro-ro..

Anyway, I know there are a bunch of kids who like anime in my school, although I have no clue who all of them are..lol. Too bad most of them like DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh*, and Pokemon... ~_~
