What was going on?

We were just defending ourselves, thought Rhye. It wasn't our fault the Neveks came out of nowhere and attacked the field. It just wasn't fair.

He wasn't about to object with no way of defending himself in time, however, so he let them lead him on.

 

"Do remember who you're talking to. But if you're an idiot and don't know, I'm Kaiya Fyre, Royal Bodyguard to the Empress. Who, by the way, wants a little chat with you... all of you. So please come this way...she's with the others."
Sin raised an eyebrow and cocked her head to the side in her typical 'i-should-care-why?' look that she gave alot of people. Except now it had a slight mix of the 'i-don't-care-bloody-hell-who-you-are' look.
"I know who you are, that's why I'm talking to you this way." she said cruelly. Basically what she meant was she knew perfectly well who she was and she wasn't about to respect her just like that. Typical teenager.
"Anywho, so the empress wnats a talk with us eh? Fine then, i can live with that." she said, following the guards. "Hey, put those things down we're going willingly ya know!"
"So anyways..." she began turning to Ryhe, acting as if this wasn't bothering her the slightest. "i didn't catch your name back there... well i couldn't because a nevek was attacking... but that's not the point, my name's Sin Selene! And what's yours?"

Chaos looked at the empress, not saying anything. His eyes were like a cat's, like Erthian's were when they were angered. What was this all about? He was still with Nuria but there were guards at him as well.
Then a he heard a familiar voice.
"Chaos, Chaos!"
"Aquafina?"
aquafina had arrived just in time to see the empress destroy the beast and all the guards surrounded the warriors. She clenched her teeth in anger and rushed to her friend.
"get out my way or I'll kick you where it hurts!" she said boldly at a guard before she hugged Chaos.
"Are you okay Chaos?" she asked.
"Yeah I'm fine..." he began but he still had his eyes on the empress. Aquafina pouted a bit at that he wasn't paying attention to her but gave up and parted from him.

 

Mirial looked at the empress, and then at her daughter. What a shame...
She held Val, still, and whispered softly into her ear. She awoke with a start, and Mirial helped her stand. She ignored the guard, and stood, watching the empress's daughter, as the group began to move together.

If anyone would give them a signal to do anything, it would be her. A smile crept over her face. This was getting interesting! Maybe she should do somethign about Val's dizzyness. She opened her mouth, but was cut short.

"You!" A guard said, moving the spear closer. "Shut up!" She once again was about to protest, but the guard brought the spear closer, almost under her neck, and she let out a hiss. "You dirty half breed, no chanting!"

She shot a look of untruthful hate straight into his eyes. "I don't need words to kill you, idiot." She mouthed. The guard gulped and stepped back, Mirial, once again, moving her eyes to the daughter, her ears on the guards.

 

The Royal Bodyguard sighed and ran a hand though her crimson hair, "And the Empress wants her to help save the world? We have a better chance sending five year-olds." she thought to herself as they walked.

When they made it to the rest of the fighters, she told the guards to stop and then she walked over to the Empress and whispered something into her ear.

The Empress nodded.

"Oh, and where is that hot-headed daughter of mine?" Kaiya added looking around.

Empress Lyndial pointed in Chaos direction, "She passed out just before the battle really started, but I’m sure she’s okay."

"Right." The Pyrian said then walked over to Nuria. Ignoring both Aquafina and Chaos, she knelt down next to her adopted daughter, "Hey, wake up you idiot!" she said, lightly tapping Nuria’s face, who remained unconscious. Frowning slightly, the Royal Bodyguard then placed a hand on Nuria’s cheek and began heating it up. After a few moment, as the heat traveled from the woman’s hand to the girl’s face, Nuria slowly opened her eyes. She looked groggily up at her foster mother then at Chaos and Aquafina, then at the guards, and then back at her mother.

"Oh! The dark-spawn!!" she exclaimed and quickly got to her feet, the Royal Bodyguard following suit. "What happened?! Where are they?" Nuria asked confused. Her confusion only increased when the guards pointed their spears at her now too.

"I’m sure they’ll explain it to you later. But now, the Empress has to make a decision. And trust me, it wont be good after that display at the Tournament." with that Kaiya Fyre turned and walked back to the Empress, leaving a very confused and slightly angry Nuria behind.

Just then, Sevita Rynne pushed her way past the guards and approached the Empress. Seyra, who had glanced up at the sudden approaching figure, soon focused even harder on the ground when she saw it was her mother.

The Royal Advisor whispered something into the Empress ear like how Kaiya had done, but this time the Empress frowned and whispered something back with Kaiya listening intently. Sevita shook her head and whispered something in reply, then Kaiya joined in. Soon the Empress shook her head, "It doesn’t matter. We’ll wait for them. They will come with it."

She ignored all the looks she got from the fighters, it was nothing, this was far too important. The empress looked at her daughter with a look of a bit of disappointment before looking back at the others. She had to make her decision soon…but were all the players present?

The Royal Advisor looked at her daughter, who braved one glance at her mother before staring at the ground again.

"Well…are you just going to stay that way?" she said suddenly. And Seyra’s head snapped up.

Seyra looked over her shoulder at her black wings, which she had completely forgotten. Angry at herself, she took several steps forward and the guard jabbed their spears closer to her face.

"Give me room if you don’t want to get hurt!" she growled at them. The guards glared back then looked to the Advisor, who nodded, and they back away from her.

Seyra then closed her eyes and concentrated. Her breathing became faster, her body then started erupting in dark energy just like when she transformed in the arena. She gritted her teeth in pain and balled up her hands into fists as the energy became more erratic, and whoever was close to her moved even farther back. Seyra then screamed out and fell to all fours in pain, her wings twisting and distorting on her back. She continued to scream as pain shot through her as her wings melted back into her back and disappeared. The screaming stopped and the dark energy faded away. Afterwards, she slowly got up, sweat pouring down her forehead and breathing hard. When she did get back to her feet, her eyes were back to normal (though glazed over from the ordeal) and not one black feather could be seen, but she looked paler than ever.

Nuria stared in shock at the scene, "I can’t believe my eyes…how…how can she do that?"

Ariana was also totally shocked by the whole thing, and by seeing the calm look on her mother’s face, it seemed she had known about this as well…they all had!

"What’s going on here?" she muttered to herself.

 

Bara didn't so slightly twitch when the spears were pushed closer to his field of vision and just swiped a hand, shoving some of them aside and backing off a step or two incase they planned anything. Hidden from view, a small ball of fire was forming close to his fist. He wasn't going to use it unless they tried to attack him or anyone of the other fighters. As soon as he had backed off from the guards, giving him self some room he glared at the Empress again,"Well? I'm not scared of whatever you have to do. Why not just tell us? We have a right to know after saving as many of your people as we could. We did something while you sat and watched. You didn't even send your guards in to help. Such a great leader you are."

When he spoke of the guards he made a slight motion with his free hand toward the guards holding spears around them, only then letting his gaze flicker over each fighter, the Royal Advisior and Royal Bodyguard, glaring at each before returning his gaze to the Empress though he did watch the guards and make sure none moved near him, muscles tense and coiled, ready to spring into action if he was the least bit pushed to do so.

 

Mirial stepped away from Syria as her wings returned into her back.

What was that?
In the midst of battle, she had forgotten that it had happened in the fight. Was it forbidden? That must've been it... and that would explain us, slightly.

Bravely, Mirial stepped up, looking at Syria's strained eyes and pale face. "Empress, she does not look well. All of us are tired from this whole ordeal. Maybe we should speak of your matters later? We need rest, and a proper explanation." She dared to look at the Empress, who looked back at her, a bit surprised.

 

Seeing that others spoke up, Yunig braved giving some input. When he looked at the Empress, he didn't look directly at her eyes. Rather, he gazed at the beautiful wings behind her back -- to stare her in the eyes would be to defy her, he thought.

"Please, Your Highness," he said, following Mirial's line of words, "my sister is injured, and so are some of the others."

There was a look of genuine worry in his eyes. He felt his sister's hand on his, the one that held her cheek. He met Jynaiyu's eyes. They were swimming in tears of pain.

"Yunig, be silent," she whispered. She does not care for those like me.

Lanah looked around at everyone, one hand in a light fist at her heart, the other clutching the morningstar at her side. She caught Mirial's eyes and nodded at her, saying wordlessly that she agreed with what she had said.

 

She caught Lanah's look. Maybe this was more than it looked like. It hurt her to see the look of pain and concern on the two sibling's faces... her own sibling was somewhere out there, in pain, as well.
Val seemed to look better, and Mirial cast her eyes downward, meekly shuffling backwards a bit. Did the empress feel that pain, too? Those waves of discomfort that seemed to vibrate in the very air around them?

It was getting so hot... and she was beginning to become thirsty... so hot... so hot... she longed for the coolness of the ocean..

 

"My name is Rhye," Rhye said. "Rhye Kin. Thak you for helping me back there. I'd have never made it were it not for you." Admitting a weakness was not something Rhye especially liked, but it was so glaringly obvious that it went without saying anyway.

And what did the Empress want with them? Again, they were the ones attacked, and probably saved countless lives. What was wrong?

 

The Empress glances at each one of them before saying, "You will rest and get the proper care soon enough, but when I say. I still have a decision to make."

She then walked over to Bara and a smirk appeared on her face. "You think you’re so tough, don’t you?” her smirk widened, "Oh, yes. I definitely want you to go. And could you please turn off that little flame behind your back? There’s no need for it. My guards aren’t going to attack you…they’re just making sure you don’t go anywhere."

With that said, she moved to Kael, who was next to Bara. The Empress looked him over and noticed his impassiveness, "Yes, you’ll do nicely."

Then, she moved over and knelt next to Jyn, completely ignoring Yunig. "You too," she said, but this time with a smile before getting back up.

At this announcement, Kaiya made a disapproving noise. The Empress quickly looked at her with narrow eyes, "Do you have a problem with my decision, Kai?" The Royal Bodyguard shook her head and stared elsewhere, a look of anger in her eyes.

The Empress continued down the line to where Mirial was. Reading her expression, she placed a hand on her shoulder. "It’s okay. You did nicely. You’ll do as well."

At this, Kaiya kicked the dirt angrily and turned her back with her arms crossed. Sevita also didn’t look pleased at the Empress’s decision.

Empress Lydial ignored them and moved to Valaina, "You too…" she then walked over to Sin and Rhye and almost laughed at Sin’s childish expression, but said anyways, "Both of you and… (she walked over to where Chaos stood ) …you."

As she walked away, the Empress smiled to herself as she ignored Aquafina, she had seen her hug Chaos earlier and knew wherever the boy went, she would too… "I’m a genius…"

She then walked back to her Bdoyguard and Advisor, both still looking displeased. The Empress pointed finally to Lanah. "You too. Guards! From those that I have chosen, including Ariana, Seyra and Nuria, please take the ones that are injured to my healers and see that they’re taken care off. Take the rest to the dungeons. After the others are healed I want them in there aswell. Now go!"

"Hey wait!" Nuria yelled angrily as the guards grabbed her arms.

"I wouldn’t retaliate if I were you. All will be explained in the morning…or whenever the time comes. See you then." The Empress said as all the fighters except Yunig and Aquafina were taken toward the palace. One of the guards picked Jyn up shoulder since it was clear she didn't have the strength to walk on her own.

Kael did nothing, and moved when told to. Hoping the others would do so aswell...these were not people you messed with.

Ariana did the same, but still very confused and slightly angry. She still had no idea what was happening.

It took a moment before Seyra moved from her spot, staring puzzled at the Empress and her mother, but a jab from one of those spear into her back was enough for her to start moving without complaint.

"Let go!" Nuria yelled and yanked her arms out of the guards grasps, "I can walk myself, thank you" She did, but with a scowl on her face.

 

Lanah blinked when the Empress pointed at her. Me too? But what for? She was then confused by the order to be taken to the dungeons.

She didn't say or do anything when she found herself being pushed along by the guards. She just moved, casting utterly bewildered glances at everyone around.


Yunig sprang up the minute the guard straightened.

"Hey, be careful! She's hurt!" he angrily, forcefully said, following and keeping a close eye on Jyn, who said nothing and closed her eyes as they moved.

 

Mirial, like the rest, said nothing. She wrung her hands nervously and looked at the others. The heat was really getting to her now. "Come on, now," a guard prodded her. She stopped.

She looked back at him, disfocused eyes menacing, and then asked quietly. "Do you have water?" Her skin had dropped a few shades, as the aquatic half of her couldn't be away from water too long.

 

The guard glared and was going to ignore Mirial’s plea when the Empress cleared her throat. The guard glanced at her and she looked pointedly at him with narrow eyes. So with a sigh, the guard removed a container of water from his waist and gave it to Mirial.

"Drink and move." the guard said roughly.

 

Rhye complied. He could see no way of getting away anyway. He hated being confined like this, but he had no say, so he allowed himself to be prodded on.

 

Bara ignored the Empresses comment about releasing the flame he was controlling. He moved when proded, bringing his cupped hand infront of him, cupping the other hand around it, the flame warm against his hands as he cupped it close to himself. He bent slightly to partly hide the flame and partly keep the power source close to himself. He lifted his head now and then to keep an eye on the guards and watch their movements carefully. He was tense still, muscles coiled, ready to move into defence at any time, finally falling back closer to some of the other fighters, glaring at any guard who tried to point a weapon in his direction.

 

Val started to regain her vision as a guard came next to her and took her arm rougly. She held up her sword to teh guard's neck but when she saw everyone shaking their head telling her not to resist she lowered her sword and jerked her arm away from teh gaurd and began to follow after everyone else. Her senses were finally returning and her energy was finally started to restore itself.

Lessien and Amras ran along the street trying to find Val. They saw the group she was with being led away by the royal guards. They were jsut about to run and get Val away but she caught their eyes. Lessien read her eyes and saw her shaking her head to stay away. Lessien held back Amras.

"What are you doing?" Amras asked angirly trying to get by.

"No...later," Lessien said pulling Amras into teh shadows.

 

Instead of heading to the palace, the ones who didn't need immediate medical attention were lead toward one of the stairs of the Arena that hadn't been destroyed by the Neliathan. Once on the Arena floor, they ignored the giant hole in the ground and forced the young fighters into one of the tunnels. They ended up in the same room Nuria, Seyra and Ariana had waited in before the match. From there they went through another passageway that led into the dungeons.

One by one, the guards pushed them into a dark, dank, and rather large, windowless cell and locked the gate. Then one of the guards turned to a machine attached to the wall next to the cell bars. He then pulled a level and glass balls that were on the machine glowed, causing the cell bars to be covered with light energy.

"That'll hold you." the guard said with a smirk, before leaving to stand watch at the dungeon's entrance.

Ariana walked up to the bars and gently leaned against them and sighed. It didn't shock her since it only did if you pushed or pulled or tried to force it open.

"Can this get any worse...?" She thought miserably. Her back still throbbed, but it wasn't something that couldn't heal with time.

Seyra, who still looked a bit pale, sat in a dark corner away from everyone, scowling.

The ones who were appeared injured (pretty much if they're bleeding alot, or asked for the help) were taken to the palace to be healed and will be joining them shortly.

After the fighters were taken away, the Empress and her Royal Bodyguard and Advisor went to the palace to discuss further matters. Leaving Yunig and Aquafina behind.

 

Yunig scowled into the shadows below the arena as he sat at the stairs, grudgingly obeying the orders given to him. Stupid guards. When're they going to let me see Jyn again? He glanced up at Aquafina, who was nearby, and his scowl faded a bit. At least he wasn't the only one left alone. He would've liked talking, but he was too annoyed at the moment to think up decent conversation.

Lanah leaned against a cell wall, having returned her morningstar to its holster-thing-under-the-skirt-type-part-of-her-tunic-esque-garment. She sighed, crossing her arms and lowering her head.

 

"Why those...!" Aquafina began, enraged by the fact they had separated her and Chaos. She scowled before sitting on the ground, her legs crossed, and a steamed look on her face. the steam from her ears... ALMOST visible.

"What is this for?!" Chaos exclaimed at the guards after they had locked them in the cell. He couldn't believe this, was the empire really going to the dogs? Why would they lock up those that saved the city? What had they done that was so wrong?
His eyes becoming like a cat's once more, he banged his fist angerily on a wall, not the bars for he was not sure if he would be affect for banging on them. that bang seemed to release his anger and he handled the rest of the situation calmly, sititng in a corner opposite of Seyra.

meanwhile, Sin was looking through her pockets once more.
"Where are they? Did I not pack them? rats, and I say I'm prepared for anything, i guess being locked in a cell for no good reason wasn't soemthing I thought og." she said in defeat. She leaned forward on the bars like Ariana had done, looking through them glumly.

 

Val sighed looking at the bars and finding thre was no way out of them. She sat down, her injuries were affecting her but she had refused medical help from people who would put so many lives in danger jsut to test a few selct people. She Leaned against the bars looking into the darkness. She pulled out a small flute and started playing a meloncholy melody that echoed through the dungeon.
