Debate Samurai or Ninja

for me its better for Ninja.^^

 

I love samurais! They're soooo cool!
I don't know why I like them, I've just always been facinated with them.

 

well, personally, the Samurai.
hack slash to the death.
oh, and honour is important too.

 

Ninja's are more of an under dog, they always end up working for someone corrupt & thus there talents go unrecognized.

Samurai's well they do most times have to take orders from someone, but still pretty much get praised

this may not make sense... im still a little tired

 

Samurai are awesome, yes, but a Ninja will kill a Samurai every time

And you forgot an option: Pirates. Pirates are way cooler than Samurai OR Ninja. Yo ho ho!

Samurais have to much armour and ninjas are so fast...It would be like a mouse vs cat fight. COME on NINJA !!! As i was typing this my good freind okami told me that not all samurai wear armour but i still think that ninja would own all with his ninja stars.

Its all about the Samurai. I don't like that backstabbing, executioner style fighting. I prefer the honorable fight so that way the other guy can watch me hack his limbs off (thinking about Monty Python and the Holy Grail here ). Also, I love those Kitana blades they use.

 

Actually, early on Samurai were pretty brutal and not honourable really.

A ninja's talents unrecognized? Are you kidding? For one, when you're an assassin, the number one thing to not do is leave a calling card (by that I mean a definitive marking/clue as to who did it and/or for who they did it for. Thus, its GOOD not to be recognized). number two, if people know a ninja is after them, they're going to be extremely paranoid. Checking for poisons, hidden daggers, leaving no shadow unexamined, you name it. Psychological warfare is effective warfare.


As for an actual battle of a ninja versus a samurai, it really does depend. The ninja probably has the speed advantage but a direct confrontation is out of the question if they want to win.

If the ninja, hypothetically, gets to make first attack, thats the most crucial point of the battle. That first attack will probably be the last. However, if they fail to kill the enemy...

Now, first of all. Is this Samurai armed with a spear, or sword(s)? Does he have a horse?

From that point on its a close battle. If the ninja can manage to get a poisoned dart or throwing star on exposed flesh, he has won. If he manages to get a backstab, he wins. However, due to armor, it'll be tricky to get a poisoned weapon on bare skin. Due to the general length of samurai weapons, getting in close is a problem.

It's a big difference. It's like placing a covert ops sniper up against a standard marine. If his first shot makes it, good. If not, he's in trouble and there is roughly equal chance of life or death.

I guess i was just basing it upon the portrail of samurai's & ninja's through anime/manga & live action films... silly me

Remember guys, its ok for ninja's to use swords, throwing stars, poisons and other neat tricks on you, but if they bite you, for Gods sake wash out that wound because they don't see a dentist.

 

Or you could go old-fashioned heavy-duty bada** and treat the wound by pouring alcohol in the it and using a hot match-head to cauterize.

 

Waste of good booze in my opinion... very hot knife does the trick

 

Who said it ALL went on the wound? How the hell else would someone be crazy enuff to stick a lit match-head into themselves?

Damn... hard to decide... ninjas have stealth but a samurai has a kickass sword. DRAW!

I wish I could be a samurai myself... that would kick *** except for the Hara-kiri or Seppuku part... :sweat:

 

Im for the Samurai and they have really cool swords. The ninja's were just hired assassins without honor.
