yes it is...and just as note, it wasnt an order but a rule that stated that a samurai could kill a commoner if they were to insult them, this insult may or may not have been real, but since they were of a higher class very few people cared.

... Were you two dropped on your heads as children? I mean, really ...

This is a "DEBATE" not a "Join the conversation just so you can go and say 'lik omfg ninja r so much btr tehn samuri!!!1!!11!one!11!' or 'no way ninja r teh win tehy wuld totly rox teh samuri!!!!!11!1eleven!1!'", capisce?

Anyways... I still prefer Ninja (see my previous posts back while I was posting in this t hread as ~ Zack ~).

well, first off, you had stated that the "ninjato" was just a cheaper version of the katana. well thats hardly a true statement, as in cases of both ends of the spectrum, either one needed a strong sword. so why would making a cheaper version of the katana be worthwhile. both needed to succed, so why use a sword that would break? as far as historical evidence goes, most ninja used the exact same swords as the samurai. there is no historical evidence of a specially outfitted sword, even one that was cheaper used by either sides. although yes an Ashigaru or a footsoldier would probably have a sword made by a less well known swordsmith, it doesnt mean that his sword would be more cheaply made. Just not as expensive because his sword was made by and unknown smith.

as for the ninja dressing in black or brown. more than likely they wore regular dress. if one intends to blend in, wearing normal clothing will be better than wearing black or brown.

to be exact its very hard to state anything in this particular subject simply because the records that have to do with the ninja are so obscured by popular fiction, so...im not blaming you at all...and i do know ive contradicted myself in the past...but those things ive said are simply logic and knowledge ive gathered. particularly about the swords as thats one of my hobbies, is japanese swords of all types.

First of all... give a bit more attention to the posts that you aren't arguing as no more than two pages back in a very post that you argued I clearly stated that Ninja more commonly dressed as commoners, servants, or guards or the likes, parading in normal dress as opposed the other garb.

And, if you rely solely on records... well, Hell... ;) I think that statement is a bit self explanatory. Records get mixed up, they get mistranslated, they become exaggerated. Perhaps there AREN'T any records of such a sword. Doesn't mean it never existed.

    Samurai!!

I still prefer Samurais over Ninjas. I don't know but (having nothing to do with fact) they seem more intruiging to me. And I like the thought of people like Kenshin ^_^ The good samurai. Something about honor etc. that makes me wanna be a samurai myself. But I'd never actually cosplay or be one in this generation  it isn't often you see someone carry a sword around but, eh. :anime:

sorry, i didnt see that post...gomen kudasai.

as for the swords...the records kept of swordsmithing were very clear except for Muramasa and anyone who studied under him because the blades fell out of favor with the Tokugawa Clan. other than that, every swordsmith was watched by the Metsuke and such to make sure they werent creating swords for rebels and the such. and if there were such swords, more than likely, they would have surfaced, and definitly would have been recorded by someone. if they had been seen at all, they more than likely would be in some record somewhere, perhaps someones account of a fight or something.

Are you worried about your baby being too smart?

Or do you just live in southern Texas and don't want your wise child to stand out like a sore thumb?

Well parents, you no longer have to worry with a new product brought to you from the manufacturers of Gerber Baby Food (ranging from crushed peaches to churned plums).

We now present to you one of our newest, yet experimental products, in which we call Wall Candy, made straight from the paint chips of a good ole' fashioned home painted with various colors of paint purchased right at your local Home Depot.

We here at Gerber Baby Foods solemnly swear to you, the parents, that once your children are feeding upon THIS candy, you have no worry of them ever having even a positive IQ number!

That is OUR guarantee, or YOUR money back.

Also from what information offers, Samurai training wasn't as limited as you are seeming to portray it as. You are making it seem that Samurai only knew how to wield a sword when that is most certainly not the case, as I am sure they had training in at least one form of martial arts and originally trained as archers on horseback which was one of the more difficult and enduring tasks to perform (firing a bow and strategically hitting a spot while riding upon horseback, that is), as well as wielding poles/polearms. Also during the time in which they were no longer needed, in more peaceful eras, they took time to study and become more in tune with art and history. Technically speaking, one could possibly say that this attunement could cause a samurai warrior to be more enlightened and it was believe an enlightened warrior was more skilled, etc. etc. etc., not to mention history research could aid in tactics and strategies.

Also I'm not sure if it was ever brought up but also we have to ponder on, if we are speaking a Samurai versus a Ninja, what, exactly, is the format of the battle? A hunting fight? A head-on-head battle? Also from what I understand while ninja may have been lighter on their feet in comparison due to samurai it could be due to the fact that ninja might have lacked as much armor as a samurai would have worn.

Just idle speculations brought about from research done on the internet of course...

This information, after all, cannot compare to the "OMG I R SO UBER I M TEH MOST INLIGNELINIGNET AND LNENLIGHTENED IR TEH NIRAVAN" intelligence and wisdom of an "uber-ninjitsu and jujutsu" master such as yourself.

I don't know half of the things most of my sensei and some of the students know.
But It just look's like I know more about martialarts and stuff.
hitokiri gensai knows a thousnd times more about history and jap swords but in history. you don't learn everything about MA it's history not martial arts class.
all i know is from my 2 sensei and 1 sifu.
In ninjutsu we go to special intrests classes where we study like camps and stuff.

And also, Ninja's learn more then ninjutsu.
they learn budo,(which u know what that is) 2.ninpo 3 ninjustsu 4 taijutsu 5 elements of fighting. and thier is 2 styles of ninjutsu 1.bujinkan in the bujinkan thier are nine schools 2 of them are purely samurai schools. it means 9 dojo's in japan created ninjutsu 2 of them purely samurai schools so they learn samurai arts aswell that was how ninjutsu was founded.......................

I guess it'd be farfetched to ask if your Sensei or Sifu taught you any grammar, hm? :p

You seem so well-versed in all the modern-day Ninja bull****... well then, why not elaborate and tell us more about modern-day Samurai, or even better, Ninja and Samurai of the time. :) Considering, y'know... all you're babbling about is how much of an "uber ninjutsu master" you're going to be.

Im gonna say Ninja. Just becuase they are stronger than the samurai class in FF XI. And thats point is about as relevant as all the others ive seen anyway.

So, there ya have it. Square have successfully swayed my vote on something as far left-field as this! I sometimes worry abuot the side effects of video games... ;-_-

Well then, it looks like we've got ourselves an intellectual giant, here. Gotta love the logic though. "Ha, no one else posted any facts so I can just say one is stronger in a game so it's better and I win AND sound smarter! \/\/||\|."

Guess he missed half the posts.

Yes, we all know that documented facts regarding armor, training specifics, combat styles and force disposition do not stand up to the almighty word of a crap video game.
