Raziel landed hard and slipped on the water in the hole. He quickly got up so Roneri did not land on him.

Then he noticed that Darius did not come down.

<I hope he is ok> he thought.

Roneri looked down with sorrow as she saw Darius get blasted away.

Raziel said " We should head toward Darius's place, he might be there when we arrive." He started to walk, but he noticed she still stood. He did not know what to say.

 

*Reina*

Reina had somehow managed to pull herself as well as Darien down and out of the initial impact of the blast and constructed a shield around them. She glared at him and said, "Now tell me where is my sister!"

*Athena*

Athena began to stir and when she awoke she smiled up at Leon for a moment and then she noticed the stranger. She somehow managed to get herself down and stood next to Leon on her own strength even though she wished she had not woken yet, she still wasn't strong. She looked at the stranger and said, "We are not yet in a safe place and I feel that if we do wish to talk we should follow Rian until we have reached a safe place and until then we should call a truce. We all have something that we have kept hidden and no one should make another share that secret."

 

Roneri looked at him. She glanced back at the opening where she had entered. She narrowed her eyes.

Damn... It was very out of her usual personality to leave him there, but she knew that such an attack wouldn't kill him, even if it did hurt him badly. And it wouldn't do him any good if she were dead and not able to help him.

She turned around once agian, "You have my thanks, but it is not like me to take orders from any one but Darius." She looked at him noticing the sympathy in his expression, "You needn't worry about me." She looked up again, "It's him I'm worried about. She glanced at him. She was about to say something when she heard voices in the distance. She glanced back at him again, "Tell me. Is this place known to anyone but yourself?" She narrowed her eyes at a familiar smell.

It's him.... she thought.

OOC: Reminder, Rian should appear human to everyone except some very powerful vampire, like Darius or something, unless she releases her powers

IC:

Rian stepped in front of Leon and Athena and glared at the newcomer.

"I don't think so..." she said regarding Athena's suggestion, "Listen...you're a special exception, but there's no way in hell a vampire is coming with us...and I doubt this guy wants a truce with us..."

Rian said this to Athena but her eyes never left the other vampire's face. She then closed her hand, and the ball of light in her palm, which was illuminating the area, vanished, plunging them into semi-total darkness.

A smile suddenly appeared on her face, "Now..can you please leave us alone or do I have to force you to?" She said, happily, but secretly reached for one of her shotguns.

As everything plunged into darkness, Michael grinned more. Of course, they didn't know that his vision wasn't affected by darkness.
"Well then, quite an interesting ability, you've got there... But fine, I'll answer your questions...
"My name is Michael. I have been hunting Darius for a long time now, and it seems as though I've finally found him.
"Now... The girl... Vampire... Heh... I can smell it... There is something different about her... I just can't put my finger on it yet...
"And Rian... You believe she could take me, old man? Heh... I'd like to see that one... As a matter of fact..."
He saw her reaching for her shotgun, so he ran at her and grabbed her wrist.
"heh heh..." He let go and took a few steps back.
<Good, it worked... She is strong, but I doubt she could beat me by herself. If the others attacked, too, however... Damn...>
He unsheathed his sword, and stabbed it into the ground. The electricity from the blade lit up the area.
"There, now it's fair for everyone." He took up a fighting stance. "Now, Rian... Show me what you've got..."

Rian glared fiercely at Michael when he grabbed her wrist.

"There, now it's fair for everyone." He took up a fighting stance. "Now... Show me what you've got..."

"Oh you better believe it...." she growled through gritted teeth, but then grinned, "...but you shouldn't have done that to your weapon..."

With that, instead of going for her gun, she unsheathed her longsword, charged and slashed at the vampire.

Leon watched Rian and Michael carefully. <Old man, eh? Hmph.>

He glanced uneasily at Athena, who had nearly jumped from his arms just minutes ago. <I forgot how fast she would heal...still, she is not at full strength yet.>

He chose his words carefully before thinking to Athena. <Athena, do you feel up to the task of going further into this labyrinth of catacombs?>

Leon returned his gaze to the fight. <I would fight, but it would undermine Rian's abilities. I know she can prove herself to be a match for this strange being. It is tough to wait...my knife wishes to find his flesh. And what is this now? Strange smells all around.>

This fight was almost a duel. It reminded him of long ago and far away. Denmark, of course. He returned his mind to the present, but not without giving that duel one last thought.

<In that time, my name was still complete. I was Leontes. Leontes, prince of Denmark. I adopted this short form to bury the past that dogs me faithfully.>

Leon was prepared to step in if his help was needed. "Fight with might, magess."

 

Setsaki walked along until comming to a giant cathedral almost like Notre-Dame.

As he saw the front, he saw twin statues of angels with their horns raised almost as playing to God, one of the angels facing the other. Each was made of stone, but they were starting to decompose. Pieces of the right angels face had crumbled off onto the ground, and created the illusion of it crying.

The left angel had completly lost its wings, and there was a bullet hole through its right eye.

But, both were still looking upward and playing a song to praise their God. Their horns never straying from the heavens.

"Huh, these angels hold a greater devotion to their God than anything else. A very noble trait, but at the same time, a very stupid one."

Setsaki walked to the giant entrance door which was at a time, panneled with stained glass. Now, glass had fallen down or been shattered. When he looked at the other side of both angels, they had been stained with blood.

He opened the door and gazed at the spectacle, something he had never seen to come to reality.

The church was completly destroyed, all the benches had either been burned, were rotting away, or had been destroyed with gun fire.

As he walked further, his feet stepped on glass shards and pieces of rock, rubble and wood that had once held together a strong church. As he walked, the crunch of glass on his shoes was beginning to annoy him.

He looked around it and saw pillars snapped in half. As he looked up, there was a giant stained glass circle in the building, surprisingly, the only thing still whole.

As he saw a small golden statue of what appeared to be Jesus on the cross, he went over to it and prayed. As he prayed, he heard the echos of people singing.

Singing? What believers have gathered here today?

As he heard the singing, he walked towards as the sound grew, echoing through every empty part of his body. As he listened, he heard a song he knew from childhood, his father had called it, The Ballad of Angels.

When he came to the group of people singing, he saw them all standing on rubble, each without shoes or socks. They were of all different upbringings, but each one sang the chorus in this beautiful song of faith.

Suddenly, they stopped and looked at Setsaki, he held his hand over his face then turned around and ran out the cathedral. But, as he ran, it was different, he no longer saw the blood-ridden, rubble of a once strong church. No, he saw the church as it once was, and as he ran through it, he was running through a mass.

When he looked at the spectators looking at him run through their mass on sunday morning, he looked at a little boy and when he saw him, he remembered, it was him.

He had watched a strange man run through his church assembly on one sunday morning.

Setsaki ran faster and faster, until finally getting out of the chuch, he caught a glimpse of the angels as they used to be. They were strong, proud statues. Covered in gold and still playing their great triumphant Ballad of Angels. When he looked to the surroundings of the old church, he saw a prospering village and then,

Then, he turned back to the church and no longer saw the old one during a morning mass, no, he saw the new, blood-ridden, rubble infested, battle ground of a cathedral. Struggling to stand still in a world so full of change.

Frightened, he sat there and breathed a moment, wondering.

Back inside the church, the conductor of the chorus stopped them and said, "We have told him what he needed to be told."

Then, as if never there before, the entire chorus of people, once so real and powerful, disappeared.

 

Athena smiled at Leon and thought back, "Yes I believe I have enough strength to explore this underground place but like you I also want to help Rian in case she needs it although in my current condition I fear that I won't be able to help and would most likely be a burden for our side. So I guess what I'm trying to say, Leon, is that I will go and explore this place and if anything happens or proves to be interesting I will contact you."

After she was sure that Leon had received her thought she smiled again and quickly kissed his cheek and whispered, "I'll be alright and I will come back."

Athena then turned from the battle and walked away from the battle. Before she turned the last corner she looked back at Leon and smiled, she had a deep sense of foreboding emitting from the pit of her stomach.

*Reina*

Reina looked over at Darien and once the flash was over she turned to him and asked, "Okay where is my sister! You said you knew her or are you also a filthy liar as well as a murdering beast?"

 

Raziel looked back at Roneri as she turned to her.

"I'm sorry if I seemed to give you orders but I thought the same as you."

<That you only take orders from Darius and I thought you might be of use to him alive than dead.>

"Well anyway my name is Raziel sorry we had to meet on such bad terms."

He said with some promise " I'm hoping to become an ally with you, Darius and the rest of the vampires under Darius."

<Getting back to her question>

" Well I was born down here and lived for most all my life, until I became a vampire. There are many who know these parts and I know these tunnels well."

Then he asked her, Where are we to go?"

 

Roneri held her hand up, "Not too loud." She said, quietly. She walked along the floors of the catacombs, coming to four other people. As she let her eyes adjust to the lighting she took a step back. She narrowed her eyes.
It's them... She thought. She would have attacked but waited. She looked to him.
Instead of speaking, she thought back to Raziel.
Stay silent. She pointed to where they were silently, Do you see them? Those are the people we're looking for at the moment. She looked back at him, But I want to wait. I want to see what happens.

"Oh you better believe it.... but you shouldn't have done that to your weapon..." Rian then charged Michael with her long sword drawn.
<heh...>
He ducked out of the way of the sword. As she was recovering from the attack, he knocked her over, and pinned her down.
"Heh... Told ya so..."

Leon nodded amiably to Athena before she left, quite shocked that she'd kissed him on the cheek. He would worry about her in the dark, but he could not control her life. <She has free will, and it is my will that she be free.>

Leon watched the battle with much interest. Michael's sword illuminated the room with a flickering light...a light that was reflecting off of something not too far down another corridor...

<Eyes!> thought Leon fiercely. <Athena, eyes! Be careful! We have yet even more...guests.>

Leon's curiosity overcame his desire to watch the battle and aid Rian, though he watched her be pinned down by Michael. He stepped around them, giving them wide birth, and slowly approached the creatures in the shadows.

<Please be some friendly human refugees...>

 

Setsaki stared at the building and thought, What hath the past in store for me now?

"HAVENT YOU ALREADY RUINED MY LIFE!!!???!!!" Setsaki shouted at the cathedral. He hrew restless and went back to check the church.

As he came in, the angels had seemed to stop playing their song, and he heard no music.

He ran to the place he had found the chorus of people and they weren't there, with no trace left behind. "What do you want from me!?! I am Setsaki, I am dead!!! Haven't I already paid the price?!? Haven't I already suffered enough!?!"

As Setsaki looked around the empty church, he saw a drop of blood on the altar, he went and touched it, "Still fresh?"

As he looked back to the broken and shattered pews but they weren't broken or shattered or corroding, no, there were spirits sitting in them, and the pews were completly in tact.

Each of the spirits reminded him slightly of someone. His mother, his father, his two twin brothers, and even his dog was sitting next to him. And as he gazed at this sight to behold, he saw various people he didn't know, but once he looked at them, he remembered who they were, "Athena, Leon, Vencil, Darius. All these people I met on my missions and all those I have killed."

As he remember who they were and what role they played in his life, they got up, and walked out of the church, almost leaving to go to Heaven.

He scanned over the gathering and finally, there were only five people left, just sitting, staring. Driving him mad.

"WHO ARE YOU!?!?!?" Setsaki's eyes went both completely red, he pulled out his handgun and began firing shots into the air.

After that, he was breathing heavily. As he began to cry he kept muttering, "Who... who... who are you?"

Rian's head was slammed against the slimy stone floor as she was pinned down by Michael. She struggled but the vampire’s grip on her was painfully strong. Rian gritted her teeth and glared fiercely at him.

"Let go you bastard!!" she thought angrily, her pride wouldn't allow her to say it aloud. Still, he was too strong, the only way she could defeat him was to…

"No! I can't!! But...but..what other choice do I have…" she thought finally, and as Rian’s rage reached its boiling point, she allowed her darker self to awaken.

She felt her strength increase and her fangs grow in her mouth. Her eyes suddenly turned red and fixed themselves on Michael’s bare neck. The thirst within her suddenly hit her with full force…she hadn’t fed in months and, vampire or not, she desperately needed blood...

Before he could fully comprehend what was happening to her, Rian pulled her arms out of his grasp, grabbed his arms with lightning quick speed, and sunk her fangs into his neck; hungrily drinking his blood.

 

Raziel, standing right behind here looked over her shoulder. "I see them." he thought to her.

"Yes I agree," he said when he got her thought. 'We shall wait to see what happens."

Michael reared back as Rian bit his neck and backed away from her.
"Fiesty, aren't we?" He said, smiling. He rubbed his neck, where he had been bitten. The wound slowly healed, but he did feel somewhat weaker.
"Well then... You've certainly proven yourself to me. I might not be a nice person... But I have honor." He extended his hand to help her up. "You win."

Rian glared up at him from her kneeling position, feeling his power from his blood through her veins. She then suddenly buried her face in her hand and pounded her other fist to the ground.

She stayed this way for a moment...trying very hard to push back this renewed power inside her. Her fist slowly unclenched and she looked up from her at Michael's hand, her eyes now only a lighter shade of red, which will turn back to gray with time.

With a sigh, Rian took his hand and pulled herself up.

"Whatever..." she said, spitting out some of the blood still in her mouth to the side.

Rian then walked over to her sword and sheathed it. With her back still to him she pulled her hood back over her head. It may have seemed a victory for her to him, but in reality she had never felt more defeated.

Her head quickly snapped back up as she sensed the other vampires nearby.

"Damn it all!" She then turned to Michael with a glare, "Friends of yours?"

 

Darius landed among the ruined section of the city. He lay in a crumpled heap, like a trampled flag on a city street. He was still alive, well dead but like.. you know what I mean still undead. Whatever. Anyway barely did his lifeforce remain in the realm of the 'living'. In his mind broken memories surfaced.

A body law on a table... someone was dead... no. not dead but what?... who was it?

Then he stood on the balcony addressing the people, "These claims are preposterous, we cannot dispense the military to investigate these blood fiend phantasms, fevered imaginings of a few madmen..." but he wasn't on the balcony, in his chambers talking with someone...

He remembered he needed power or he would die... he had to become one as well.

He was back in the room approaching the body on the table... leaning in... drawing blood...draining the King's power... a sudden pain...

Darius let out a cry of pain and anger that echoed unheard into the ruins of the city.

 

Raziel decided to go up and check the city to see what happened.

<The whole area looked like a nuclear waste land> he thought.
All the buildings were gone and if they still stood there was like nothing left of them.

Raziel went back down and told Roneri what it was like.
